Default Dle 20cc and seagull extra 260 .90?

Hello guys,

I want to build my first gasser and i decided to go with a DLE 20cc (i got it already). I have had different seagull planes and i like the quality and price. I was considering this plane:

I am not really into 3d but i like hovering the planes. Do you guys think the dle 20cc will be enough?

Thanks

The DLE20 will fly that model fine, but be lacking for pull-out from a hover.
When hovering, you should be at 50% or less throttle, so that when you go to pull-out at full throttle it'll do so promptly, not sluggishly.

I have (2) DLE20's, one on a profile that's 7 lbs and pull-out is like a rocket!
On the other at 8 lbs, it'll hover, pull-out is slower but acceptable.

The model you're wanting is heavier yet, and could hover, but struggle on pull-out's.
For that model, a DLE30 might be better.

Ok, thanks! I have he .60 edge of seagull. What do you think about putting the 20cc into that one? Then that it is what i might do then to get the power i need. I just didnt feel like removing the 2-stroke engine i have in that one, change servos to MG, etc

Much better match up!

Mount the DLE20 inverted, notch out the cowl for cyl head clearance and you should have a killer combo.
Do some test fitting/mounting to see if the stock muffler -or- a Pitts style is better.

Might need to invest in stronger L-G, as most Seagull's L-G is not very strong, and tends to bend too easily.

I bought me a DLE20 my first gasser for this Nitro Planes Yak 54, I paid $156 including shipping, now it's $149.99. I'm gonna use the first gasser which is DLE20 and I was told that for that kinda plane I might need a 26CC engine, but, I'm gonna go with this. I'm gonna use Zinger's 16X6 prop may be 17X6 in future, I like more thrust, more verticals.

Seagull Models, Phoenix Models, Black Horse Models, they are all Vietnamese made models and pretty good quality.

I'd like to buy one of these 2 planes from BH Models and very good priced too.

Mind it I paid $156 with shipping for my Yak not for my DLE20 , It's still $269.99 but I think Troy Built hobbies are selling it from $249.99

Sounds like a really good deal, I have a similar plane, different color scheme but it is probably made by the same people. As for power, you may have to use a bigger engine. I am using a JC 28cc and judging by the way it flies, I believe the DLE 20 will be marginal at best. I do have a DLE 20, but that is on an Goldwing Extra which is smaller, about 8 lbs. At this weight it has plenty of power, but the bigger Yak will most likely end up in the 9 to 10 lbs. range which will require something like a DLE 30. Just my 2 cents.

Planeclothes,

I appreciate your 2 cents. I really got a good deal, as well as I've run outta funds. I don't think I'm gonna install bigger size engine on that plane. Since, I have not started it putting it together, I'm gonna do it with the help my mentor on second week of January, since I'm traveling outta USA.

I think DLE20 would do just fine, not to negate anything, but I'm kinda satisfied, and would know more upon starting the assembly.

It is your call, go for it. I'm sure you will find out what this combo can or can not do. Good luck.

So long as you leave out hovering, it will indeed fly that plane just fine.
Hovering that model with the DLE20 will be at near full throttle, so be aware and be high when ya try!

Cool,

I have no intention of hovering, if I ever tried it would be on a very high altitude. Since this is 20CC 1.20CI engine, so it should be good enough for that Yak 54.

Thanks.

Did not mean to hijack the thread, just added my questions to it, to keep it going. So DLE under any circumstances is a good choice if you go on NGH or CRRC engines, or HK gas engines.
