Default Questions regarding G23 glow engine.

I can purchase a G23 glow for a good price and was thinking about using it on one of the 120 arf's such as the Hangar 9 Edge 540. Can someone tell me if they will run with no nitro? How much oil do they need? What size prop and rpm do they run? Are the pumper carbs as picky with the needle settings on glow as the normal carbs or do you set them once like the gas ones.
Thanks,
JB

They will run on no nitro..The carbs are just like the gas version, set and forget..At least 8000 with an 18-6 Zinger..Mine turns 8200 at 7000 feet on 10% nitro...It was made from some old parts, so a new one might be better....

Thanks RC. Can you tell me the oil raito I should use. Horizon says to use Large Supertigre fuel but I would think as the G23 uses ball and needle bearings that you could use less than 10% oil.

RCIGN: If a person removed every bit of weight possible on a gas G23 and ran it on glow with a plug adapter, what do you estimate the lighest weight the engine could possibly be? Also have you ever ran a G38 on glow? Thanks Captin John

RCIGN: Thanks for the reply. When I get my digital camera, I will send you a picture of the lightest glow Homelite I am reworking. I am hoping it will run on 5% or no nito on a 32-1 Klotz kl 200 mix. Best Regards, Captin John
