Identify unknown engines

I bought a box of seven gas engines last night for $150. I know it was a good deal, but I need help identifying some of them. There is one G38 that has been converted to an old CH ignition, and has the round engine mount with the RCA style jack on the side. Isn't that some Quick start gadget or something? There is a G 62 set up the same way also. Both have a mechanical advance, and I am thinking I want to upgrade these ignitions, unless they work fine. No experience.
I have 2 other engines that look like a Quadra 75 or something. Same CH ignitions They say made in Canada. Then I have one with a smooth, round rear case that looks to be around a 30cc with same ignitions. There is another one of either a 26 or 30 cc size that has a black painted cylinder with a Mag ignition. I will got some pics up later. I am wondering of the value.
Any thoughts on the Zenoahs with that type of ignition would be welcome.

I have the pics up. I am doing one post per engine to aid in clarity. Here is one I need identified. It has a "44"on the front of the cylinder. It looks to be in the 40 cc range. It has a Walbro 21-245 carb, and it also has the CH ignition. Does not have an mechanical advance on ignition. This is a very high quality engine. Any thoughts?

On we go! The lettering on the front of the cylinder sais, 44zn18. This looks to be between 45-65 cc. CH ignition with mechanical advance. Odd wooden disc used to mount the hall sensor.Smooth lower case, polished. Top end looks a lot like a G62. Any ideas here?

This one is big. Maybe a 75cc? Front case sais, 49ZN2. Bottom end smoothly finished, top end looks like a Zenoah, Fuel line running from carb to case, Wooden disc for hall sensor, CH ignition as well. Mechanical advance on ignition. Thoughts?

Another big and very nice engine. It sais Made in Canada on the case. Interesting feature on this one is a sort of compression release pin on the top front of cylinder. When pushed down, compression decreases and you can hear the bleed off. Raise it, and the compression is strong with no hiss. Interesting carb mount. It has a tapered block mounted to block of engine. Tillotson carb, CH ignition.

This G 62 was the main reason I bought the box. I was looking at it in the dark and was not really sure what I had. I was impressed with this G38 as well. Not sure about these ignitions, but they certainly have a good reputation.
So what is the starting procedure with that RCA jack? Is the ignition battery kept behind the backplate on these engines? Then a substitute battery is needed to get it running?
Again any info would be great. I fly warbirds mostly, so, I think these engines will all be usefull. I am not trying to get the light weight powerhouse like the IMACC guys.

This one maybe the Sachs 4.2. by A&M. Not the Zenoah.

So what would be the opinions on these older ignitions? Would I be better off updating them to RCxcel or using them as is? I am not fond of the mechanical advance, although I am sure it works. Just seems like something else to go wrong.

That looks like an old Quadra conversion which is not as powerful as the 75XL or the mag 75. It still packs a punch though.

Yep a 24x8-10 should do the trick. But also remember it also depends on the plane you put it in. Example for the G62 a 23x8 is the sweet prop for that engine with the mag. I found it pulled the Zirolli Stuka with authority but the same engine in the Meister 109 it was a 22 x10. So do some testing on the bench just to see the numbers you get. The engine may be still strong or it could be weak. Try to get to between 6800 - 7200 just to find out what the engine has in it. If it is not getting to 6800 with a 24x10 then you will have to prop accordingly.

So I am finding in this box of goodies little shrink wrapped items that look like an ESC. Says "Syncro spark" on them. OK, I am going to guess that this will eliminate the mechanical advance on the timing? So are these placed between the hall sensor and the ignition?
Also, on the engine with the compression release, how does that fit into the starting procedure? When would you increase compression, after it is running or after it fires?

See if the ignition for the BME or the Quadra 75 has SS engraved on the back of the case, then the SS is built in the ignition. If you have just external SS units then the Q75 and the BME 44 need one.
I have never used the compression release, just flip the prop like you mean it. In theory you push the compression release down and when the engine starts it automatically pops it up.

Yah, the more I look at this stuff and research it, I am pretty happy.
On the Q35, it has a carb with no choke. It seems this engine would be good for a small 1/4 scale ww1 plane like a Neiport. Would there be another Walbro carb with a choke that I could replace it with? Not having a choke seems like it would be troublesome.
