juweeltje, the G-38 is heavier than the newer engines. I put a 3000ma battery on brackets above the engine inside the cowl, also every thing as far forward as possible. Use pull pull cables for both elevators and rudder. I didn't have to add any weight and kept overall weight at 18.3 lbs. The plane flys good at this weight and power is ok. Let us know how the 17-10 works with the DLE 35r a.

Just finished a round of prop testing on my DLE35RA. Xoar 17x8x3 is the perfect 3-blade - 7400RPM on ground, 8300 in air.

Cheers

interesting info. can you compare RPMs to 2 blade props you tried and what muffler are you using. Know anyone that sells a front dump canister and header kit for the engine. US Dealers that used to carry them don't anymore from my research. My club will appreciate it if I get a real muffler on it and the j'tech isn't really any quieter, I'm told. I don't want to use the add on piccolo silencers, knock down the rpms too much.

i ask as I'm riding the fence on putting this engine or actually the larger dle 55 ra into a seagull spitfire just so I can get good flying performance out of a 3 blade prop.

also, who carrys the props and spinners and which props did you try that you didn't like?

any other info you have about

Thx!

My engine is 100% stock, no Bowman rings, stock exhaust, etc. I ran 18x10 Xoar WWII for awhile until I found the 3-blade which is scale for my airframe. Ran fine on 2 blade as I recall, but honestly, didn't really run that setup for long.

I bought and and tried the Xoar 18x8x3 which was too much load for the 35RA.

cheers

Marksp, where did you buy your 17x8x3 prop, I am looking to put a 3-blade on my Stinson Reliant, with DLE 35ra. stock motor. sounds like you have had good results. I currently have a 19x8 WWII prop on there.
