The discount codes are still in place at Valley View RC
$10 off on orders over $100 enter code VV100RC
$20 off on orders over $200 enter code VV200RC
$30 off on orders over $300 enter code VV300RC
$40 off on orders over $400 enter code VV400RC
Just note that in the code there are two V's it is not a W.
If the codes do not work for you just call Tammy and she will give you the discount.
Thanks
Tom

Yes, haven't had a chance to maiden it yet, weather has been crappy. Got a DLE 30 in it but I might consider a VV 40 twin later.
Seems like VV's discount codes don't work any more, bummer........
Have about 20 flights on the VV 20 engine. What a nice little engine. Handles nice smoother then the DLE .Running the VV 17x6 prop.Have not even tacked it but pulls the plane fine and thats what counts. Will fly it more this week end.
When is Zilla.

So what do you guys think about using the 40cc twin in the new Hangar 9 SR22T?

http://www.hangar-9.com/Products/Def...ProdID=HAN5020
I believe it'll fit. The cowl measures 9-10". The orig plane was designed for the evo 26cc, but i saw it flown with the 33. Spoke with the designer from horizon, and we took measurements. It should fit in cowl. Also, considering the weight of the evo 33, the twin should be lighter.

It flew awesome at Nall, btw. Came to a crawl with flaps. Truly nice plane.

I'm going down to VVRC's office tomorrow to get some parts. I'll ask about the twin and see if they are in yet.

The first shipment of the 40cc twin was less than 20 engines, and pre-orders gobbled-up every one. Another batch is expected in 2-3 weeks. If you REALLY want one soon, don't wait til they show up on the website, call and reserve one ASAP. The introductory price won't last forever, either.

Hope you guys don't mind me dropping in. RCGUY is a performance driven go-fast guy and I'm just a knuckle draggin 3d hucker so thought I'd offer my perspective for anyone that falls into the latter category... I did the maiden of the 30cc VVRC Yak with the 40 twin about 4 months ago, but due to the damp cold NW weather it was a brief trim flight/flight check before I was too numb to continue. Today was a different story... 80 degrees/clear/calm, it was definitely time to fly!

Initial impression was HEAPS of power, and smoooooth. We had a 20x8 beechwood prop turning 74-7500rpm static and idling smoothly around 1400. Throttle was snappy and did I say smooth?! Best part is it looks good too and fits into the cowl of most 30cc planes already on the market!

It's just a cellphone video, but can give you an idea of how it performs. Be nice, I've only flown the plane once before briefly and even that was about 4 months ago...

Bought (stole) at an auction last week, an ESM DC-3. Firewall to front of cowl is 4 3/4 in. The DLE 20s I have are too long. Considering the Evolution 20, then spied the VV20 but can't find anywhere, the length. Could one of you fellows run out to the shop and put a measuring stick on one? Need from prop drive to carb bolt heads.

ThanksWes

The VVRC 20 is so close to the DLE 20 as to make no difference. On my KMP P-38, I cut holes in the firewalls for the carbs. This way, they sit far enough back to fit in the cowlings.

That was my first thought but no can do on the holes. The wheels come within 1/2" of the firewall when retracted. Will more than likely go with the Evolution. That leads me to another thing. The Evolution manual states - the tank being pressure fed from muffler, it should be set as close to the firewall as possible. Well on the DC-3, the tank sets about 22" from the firewall. Horizon, being the distributor, you would think they would know if this would work before I invest in the engines. Their answer - "if it gets adequate fuel, it will work". No s#&t Sherlock. This is not the first time a company has given an uninformed, run around answer. You would think I would have learned by now. In my B-17, I put 1 oz. hopper tanks behind the firewall. The main tank is about a foot away and it feeds the 4 strokers just fine. Anyone tried for the max. distance that will feed the Evolution 20cc??

Sigh...

Guys, they aren't motors. Rockets and electric propulsive devices can be motors, but not engines. I wish I could remember the source I am referring to. It makes perfect engineering sense. And there are NO ifs, ands, or butts - er - buts.

Good lord, really? If any post deserves a "sigh" it's the above one.

Well who ever told you that had their head up where the sun doesn't shine. Here's webster definition http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/motor

I too was always taught that it was "electric motor" and "gas or diesel engine". However, I think that as often happens with a living language, "motor" has been used so often and commonly to mean an engine, that it is now accepted as being proper. Personally, I still say "motor" for electric and "engine" for internal combustion, but that's just me....

On the flip side, I have never heard of an "Electric Engine"!!

How many "motor"cycles are actually electric? Why is Detroit the "Motor City"? General Motors? The distinction is blurred and always has been. Deal with it.

Ah, as AV8TOR pointed out there are no electric engines, as far as scooters go, it's a misnomer, like calling someone who builds engines a "motor head". Anyone get there 40 twin running yet? This fourm is correct in it's identification...Gas Engines.

Well I think merriam webster supersedes opinions.
Here is another link to the word motor http://www.thefreedictionary.com/motor
it's a latin term meaning to move.
By the same token motor vehicle does not mean an electric vehcile only, or does it.
Does this mean that the dept of motor vehicle does not apply to the IC vehicle.
Does this mean I don't have to license or insure my IC vehicle because it's not an electric. Or do I have to pay taxes on it as well after all it's an engine vehicle.
