Default Cooling for Ignition Module/Box ? ?

I have a Zen G26 with the electronic ignition. Does the electronic module/box have to be mounted so it gets some airflow over/around it to keep it cool ?

Thanks. Bob

If it's the older version ignition which is very power hungry and which gets quite hot during use then it's best to have it in a position where it will get some cooling air. If it's the newer RC exl type ignition then it does not need any special consideration when mounting except of course to keep it away from direct heat from the engine/muffler.

Thanks karolh. It is the newer module and it will take batterys with 4.8 - 7.4 volts. Is there any advantage of using a battery with a higher voltage of 6 or 7.2 (compared to using a battery with 4.8) ?

No not really.

Heat is the ignition's greatest enemy and since there is no added benefit in using more than a 4.8 volt battery in powering it, using a higher voltage could quite possibly shorten the longevity of the ignition.
