Thanks for the comments fellas.
BD Kelly - thanks for the video. Nice looking model and nicely flown. The landing was great. Reminded me of how I have to land my Waco, comes in hot but settles nicely, and then eats up the runway!!!
I was surprised my Waco needed as much speed for landing as it did, being a biplane I thought it would land slower, but it doesn't!!

Yes, I have to keep a bit more speed on for landing the Zero. I fly quite a few warbirds (although this is the biggest!!) and they all need to be "flown" onto the ground. I got caught out by the Zero as I thought it still had good speed and didn't think it would drop like that. Next time I will be ready on the throttle to give it a small burst if needed. Good thing is it didn't drop a wing, just dropped straight down, very similar to my Waco, so I have some idea of what to do in future....... I think.....

He built a really nice ring for the FG60R3! I would love to get a parts listing for this, as I think the larger tubing diameter gives a throatier sound. Very sweet!

Here's another home built exhaust ring with larger tubing - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hmmcwS91rq4 Sounds great!

First, the tap will melt regular gasoline fuel tube. So, Keleo suggested using some silicone tubing locally. I used a couple inches and then transitioned it to gasoline-proof tubing on its way to the tank vent, which loops all the way aft to the back of the tank then forward to the tank vent fitting, aerobatic style. I cannot fuel the plane by waiting for fuel to dribble out the exhaust though, because the silicone tubing isn't compatible with gas. So, I have to be able to see the tank while fueling and be sure not to fill it all the way up.

.
Put a "T" in the gasoline compatible tube section & run a line to a "fuel dot". You can then gauge when the tank is full. On my Rascal 110, I have 2 vent lines "T"ed in to allow variable fuel levels when filling. One "line overflows at 16 oz, the other at the full 32 oz capacity of the tank.

I have a DX9 tx and a TM1000 telemetry module. Is it possible to have the temperature of each cylinder relayed to your DX9 using the telemetry unit? Thanks in advance for help.

No...Spektrum telemetry supports a max of one temp sensor.

So do you guys put the one temp sensor on either head 1 or head 2 since they usually run little hotter then head 3?

When I was using Spektrum, I always but the temp probe on Cyl1, it is normally always the hottest. I have Jeti now which comes with dual sensors, so I put one on Cyl 1 and the other on Cyl 2. By the way, the Spektrum probe I found to be around 20% inaccurate. I checked it on the ground with 2 handheld probes and at idle Cyl 1 was sat 94 Deg C according to the handheld probes, and the Spektrum was reporting around 114-118 Deg C. I was happy that it was erring on the high side, but the Jeti ones are a lot more accurate.

Are any of you having issues with the fittings for the Keleo ring loosening up? I haven't tried Locktite on the threads yet but I might go that way if they loosen up again. So far I've just used red RTV on all of the threads. Some of them stayed tight but one of them loosened up quite a bit. Just wondering how you guys approached this. Thanks!

Slither,
I built the same ring for my Saito with a slightly smaller diameter straight tube using parts from Krumscheid in Germany and the stock pipes. You can get the larger straight pipe there too.

Also added a smoker pipe. Works very well

If you don't have a 10mm drill bit you can use a size "X" standard drill bit. This is almost a perfect fit for props on my FG-60R3

Looks great! Can you post a video of how it sounds? Would love to see the smoke too!

I dont have much video material yet but I put something together here.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z0tCoehxsVY The Smoke works but the Muffler cools down too much. I need to get some heat insulation tape on it, the kind of stuff the motorbike guys put on their manifolds.

Has anyone tried to inject smoke into the Keleo ring yet? I'm getting the itch to try it. I wonder if it gets hot enough?

Default Stock carb Fix

I broke down and cut out a hole in the cowl to adjust the high end using a wire extension since it never seemed to run the same way twice with the cowl on which was frustrating.

i can now get 6400 top end and 1600 idle with an acceptable transition using a xoar 22x10 Carbon prop.

My keleo exhaust ring broke two of the three header pipes off the ring. The plane has around 10 flights on it and the nuts were checked before the last flight. I have tried to contact Keleo 3 times by phone no answer. Anyone else have this trouble.

I'd like to hear about how well you like flying this engine in airframes other than warbirds. Would this engine in a 50cc Yak have half way decent vertical? In no way am I implying how's it for 3D, but how would it work as a cool IMAC type engine? Based on how it compares to a dle 55 in a top flite P47, I'm thinking anything much over 16 pounds is for acro is probably pushing it.

This engine will give you plenty of power for an aerobatic plane like a 50cc yak in at 17lbs. At full throttle with a Mejzlik 22x10 for example, I've measured a good 24lbs of thrust - you'll get even more in the air. A comfortable amount of thrust over 1:1.

Ive got an ASP FS400 in the Aeroworks Yak and it performs great - no 3D machine of course, but more than enough guts for me.
