I got a FPE 3.2 as my first gasser. All the guys I talked with said to use a resistor plug. I don,t remember if the engine came with the plug or not but I have a risistor plug in it. I just bought a H-9 Su-31 with a bme 100. I noticed it didn't have resistor plugs in it. The guy had flown this plane many times. I don't know it he took them out and stuck regular plugs in or did he fly it like that. Is that safe!
Oh while I have you here, Do you have to use a PCM rx. with gas? Just wondering. I,ve heard yes and no.
Thanks for any enfo,
Kelly

Resistor plugs are only necessary if the plug leads are not shielded..The C&H ignitions are mostly shielded with bosch resistor caps...PCM is not necessary if the normal precautions about distance between receiver and ignition are followed...[8D]

The Falkon ignitions for ZDZ are fully shielded, but the instructions also insist on the use of a resistor plug. They advise that a non-resistor plug may interfere with the electronic circuit of the ignition.
The 3W and DA ignitions are also fully shielded, and they include a resistor in the plug cap and a compact CM6 non-resistor plug.

The BME came with resistor plugs. They may have been changed caues somebody didknow better. ITS A BAD idea to use non-resistor unless they are shielded and have an added resistor like DA,CH or the 3-W 10mm caps

I agree with RCIGN1, PCM is not necessary. You can get by very well with PPM if you take proper precautions. Even if you use PCM you should take those same precautions as PCM does not ignore interferance, it just masks some of the interferance some of the time and; if you have the fails safes set up properly, will sometimes save a plane which experiences interferance problems by retarding the engine or stopping it thus ending the interferance if it is caused by the engine or vibration from the engine.
