I am getting concerned. I ordered my BME 110Xtreme a few months ago and havent heard anything. I dropped keith 2 emails last week with no response. I called today and didn't get an answer. I want to know when I can expect my engine. I didn't get an order number. Does anybody know how far behind they are? My Sukhoi will be ready for the engine in 4 weeks. If keith is listening, the order was placed under

I know they are busy down there. According to Kris^ about 50 have gone out the door already. Fortunately, mine was one of them, and it DOES run sweet!!
I know you're anxious, but it will be worth the wait.

Closer to 100 now, Crash. . .the PROBLEM is CH IGNITIONS!!!!!!
Remember that. . Keith has parts for 2000 engines. . yet he has NO ignitiions because the people at CH will NOT make him ignitions. . He order 500 ignitions 6 MONTHS ago. . . and CH insists on dribbling them to him slowly.
NOW. .you want an engine???? Call CH and complain.
That's right. . CH is the problem. . NOT BME
And yes,. I hope the stuff hits the fan over this. . . it's ridiculous that CH would do this to a LONG time customer. (over 4 years now, several THOUSAND ignitions)
I called 4 days ago. . they have 20 engines ready to ship. . no ignitions. They can produce 30-40 110's a week . .no ignitions.
YOU tell me what the problem is. . . . . . .I already know, and it really makes me mad.
I think that pretty much tells the story.

Tell you what Crash. . if you NEED to make a choice, send me an email. . I'll send you my backup engine as a "loaner". It's a 106 (102 w/110 jugs) but it has the same power as a 3W106 and gobs more than ANY DA100 out there .. you can "borrow" it till you get a 110. The 33% Fibrclassics 330 I have it in is getting a bit of renovation at the moment, so I can let the motor have a new home for a while. . .

Kris. Thanks and I really appreciate the offer but I couldn't. My sukhoi will not be in the air until next spring, so I guess it isn't a matter of NEED. I still have some radio components to order and install which I will not have till the end of november. I hope that by december or january at the latest I will have my 110. I have an OMP 80" edge profile calling to me from under the work bench and I wont start on it till the sukhoi is done. So I will patiently wait. I haven't been able to get ahold of keith yet as I am sure he is verry busy. I will check back in late december and see where he is. I will also try to contact him tomorrow to see if he can let me know where I am on the list. That will at least give me an idea of when it will come.
Maybe instead of lending me an engine, you could help me to find out where I am on the list? You don't seem to have trouble getting in touch with keith.
The order would have been placed by my LHS.

Hey Kris^..Maybe you should start your own ignition company....You want a schematic ??
All you have to do is find a company to make PC boards at a reasonable price, find a company to make transformer coils, find a company to buy spark coils from, find a company to make the boxes, hire some help to do the soldering, then deal with customers who can't follow simple directions..Nothing to it...
AND still make a profit.....[8D]

I have the schematic, Ralph. An even easier solution is the HEI ignition module from GM, with some minor modifications. I've even tested a very simple electronic advance circuit that would do away with the need for a synchro-spark chip. But, you know, I did electronics repair and troubleshooting for 10 years .. I really don't want to do it anymore.
Profitability is not the problem, nor is QC or even building the units or profitability .. it's getting the job done and living up to your obligations.
Do try to keep this in perspective Ralph. . the issue is not whether I or anyone else should step in. . .the issue is a 6-month lead time on a large order and steady supply of work, that is largely being ignored for whatever reason. In today's business climate that's never a good idea.

Well, Blkbird, the 110 is hauling a 40% Composite-ARF 330 around the IMAC sequences at the moment. . . kind of hard to fly without an engine on the plane.
Oh. .the plane weighs 28.5 lbs dry. . . its amazing what you can do with a lightweight engine. . NO lead to balance it, either, and it's actualy slightly nose-heavy. . .go figure.

Kris^, I can sympathize with your plight, but you know, as in any business, the end customer doesn't really care what problem you have with your contractors - that's your job either to sort out or prevent from happening in the first place. If BME takes the risk of preselling a product before it's ready, BME should shoulder the responsibility entirely if things don't go as BME planned. Passing the blame and asking the end customer to go rattle CH's cage is simply NOT an appropriate stance for BME to be taking. I do hope that you weren't speaking on their behave.

DirtyBird...Doing business with a Commie country is not an option..Even if it were, the cost of shipping and complying with all the government paperwork would be enough to discourage it....I prefer to do it myself, so the buck stops here....[8D]

It always pays to follow your intuition, Ralph. If someone suddenly jumps in and says "HANG ON". . .I'm certainly willing to listen and take what they say into consideration, and perhaps research it further if I feel it is warranted. . .to do less is to remain ignorant.
.
I know what I've been told. . I know what I've seen and experienced from both BME and CH. . . and I know what my reaction was to CH. . and to BME. .
I'm not as totally rabid a fanatic of BME engines as some would assign to me.

You gonna do a "Paul Harvey" and tell the REST of the story ?
First a claim that the hold up was waiting for cylinders and pistons....then those come in and we find out all this time he only has 50 crankcases!! That gives the appearance of pretty poor planning when you have 500+ pre-orders for something . Now this deal. If someone has some real information about what is going on would you all please share it with the rest of us.

I guess I have a couple of questions.
Why is the 110 so much lighter than the 105?
From the mount, the engine looks tilted.
Is the thrust angle built into the mount?
Also, is this a single bolt mount?

BTW, the 110 cylinder's ports are larger, and there are more of them. The exhaust port is huge by comparison to the old 102. The new 110 top end "breathes" MUCH better, thus makes a BUNCH more power.

Miles, email me and I'll share the link to another site that does have an in-depth review of this engine. Posting it here will probably get censored.
BTW, I swapped my BME 105 out of my Wild Hare Extra when I received my 110 Extreme, and I LOVE it!!!
