Default G62 Question

I recently purchased a G62 that was just repaired by a reputable compnay. It had new rings installed and new crankshaft. The engine cranked right up and I had a great 15 minute flight. When I got the plane back to the pits I noticed black residue on the wing and firewall on the exhaust side. I call the company who fixed the engine and told them what happened. They said it could be that the rings were breaking in and that perhaps the carb mixture need some fine tuning.
This is my first G62 but not my first gasser so I am asking if any G62 owners out there have experienced the same problem. Looks to me like something isn't right with the engine.
Thanks

What oil are you using? I am running Lawnboy Ashless on my DA-100 and it is donig the same thing. Once break-in is finished and I switch to Amsoil Synthetic the residue should be greatly reduced. I imagine the same will happen with your G62.

Ryan, thanks for your quick response. I am using Bel-Ray H1R synthetic 2 cycle oil and it's used by several of our members in G62's, DA engines, 3W, you name it. No one else has the residue problem, then again maybe it's part of the break-in. I will try Amsoil Synthetic next time I need oil.
Thanks again,

Talking about oil is a sure way to start a food fight.
But most of the "experts" say breakin with petro oil 32-40/1 and switch after break-in to the Snyth stuff.
The break-in on most of the commerical chain saw pistion/cylinders is often in the 3-5 GAL range. Some engines never get flown enough to get broke-in.

TKG, this engine has several hours on it but it did get a new piston ring so I guess you could say it needs to be broken in using regular oil then switch to synthetic?
Thanks

TKG, this engine has several hours on it but perhaps I should use a regular oil mix since it does have new rings and the engine should be treated as if it was new.
Thanks

TMAN[8D]; I use BelRay MC-1 at 50:1 in all of my gas engines and it performs great. Break in is usually after 1 1/2 - 2 gal of fuel, and the engines come alive........

John, I am using a 40:1 oil/gas mixture, does it make a difference in engine performance using your 50:1 ratio?

Engines that are set rich for breakin will put carbon out the muffler till they are broken in and leaned out. The same carbon thet comes out of your car muffler when the choke is on.
