Yesterday while flying my engine died. I assumed I ran out of gas and didn't check it out. Well today I found I could not start my engine. I pulled the cowl and found that both my ground wires were broken (using a hose clamp) this is the third time this has happened. After re-attaching the the ground the engine doesn't start. I have checked for a spark and it is weak but I don't know how strong it was before so I have nothing to compare it to. I know the answer may be to send the ignition into C&H but my question is this, what can I do to keep the ground from breaking. I don't really want to have Bosch caps installed because I may not have enough room to put the cowl on with cutting it.
Any suggestions will be helpfull!
Thanks

I'm not sure how to solve your ground wire concern itself but I'm positive your Ignition if fried because of the lost ground(s)
Call C&H and ask them for suggestions

Double over the braid were it is clamped. Check often.
OR drill and tap a hole in a fin and bolt on a ring terminal on the ground.
CH also has a billett machined cap similar to the one on the BME 110 but its for a 14mm plug.
A correctly operating CH ignition will fire a .1 plug gap in the open air. Open up the gap on some old plugs and see what kind of spark you have.

The ignition works. What I have found is that sensor is not working. I need to get one. Is it better to go to C&H since BME never answers their phone?

Probably best to go to C&H since C&H is the firm that made the ignition in the first place. I'd get a spare one becasue they are cheap and they do occasionally fail.

Miles i had my caps replaced with the billet aluminum ones. there 25.00 each but the ground wire is in the cap and you dont have to worry about the wire coming loose.

The next time you remove your cowl, could you take a picture of the cap for me.
If it is a low profile type, then this would be a good upgrade for the future.

So are you saying that the boot is smaller than the billet?
If so, then I think I will pass

Its not going to be as low as you think. the rubber boot fits inside the billet cap
