Default Brison 3.2 and big props.

Could anyone give me their opinion as to how well my 3.2 would run, swinging a 24-10

I have bought a GSP Decathlon 96" wing and I expect it to come out at about 18 lbs.
I know that my engine choice may be a tad radical and therefore have wondered about swinging a bigger prop to tame the beast.

Any input would be greatly appreciated,

Thank you, Bob

Default Brison 3.2 and big props.

i ran a 22 x 10 RCS and that prop gave me 6300 RPM and Gary at Brison felt i needed to be in the 6500-7500 RPM for the motor to be at it's best. I still had unlimted verticle on a AW Edge under 16 lbs and the prop would T-roll quite easy. So you can image RPM wise you are going to drop at least 600 with that prop compared to the previous mention Maple prop.....

Try either a 22x8 Menz-S prop (about 7100 rpm).
Or a 22x10 Mejzlik (about 7200 rpm).

That's what EJB gets with his Brison 3.2 motors.
Works well for planes in the 15-18 lb range.
The Menz would fly a little slower.

Default Slowing her down.

I thank you for your feedback. It is greatly appreciated.

Are the prop suggestions for Ultimate performance or for scale like performance with the Decathlon ?

I was thinking I would need to swing a bigger prop

Default Props

Those props are for ultimate performance in an aerobatic plane.Personaly,I would still use them in a scale type plane to get the optimum performance out of the engine. I would think a 24x10 would really bog the engine down too much. I also think a 96" Decathalon at 18 lb. will fly very close to "scale like" with the smaller prop.Of course you can try a 24x10 or 24x8 & see how the plane flys.

Default prop

use a menz 26x8 to keep the rpm up and give good thrust. 10 inch pitch is too much imo

I wouldn't go larger than a 22 inch diameter prop because the motor can't turn the larger props anywhere near the torque/HP peak of the motor. Big props will only give you worse performance and possibly cook the motor.

Default Very useful

Thanks for the excellent and informative prop comments.

I think that the larger prop could pose the problem highlited here and I think I should stick within the optimal range.

Stay with what Diablo suggested and you will have good results.A friend of mine has the same plane you have and he put a 3-w24 on his.His came out heavy so he really needs more power than the engine he has on it.
