Default BME 110 Ignition Battery?

What size battery (in MAh) is everyone using on the ignition for their 110? I will be using 4.8Volt.

Crash I am using a 4.8v 1500 nicad I had on hand. I believe the CH ignition draws about 1 amp at full throttle. When I get around to replacing my batteries I will use lithium with a 6v regulator.
I bench ran mine on a NiMH 6v. Both work fine.

Thanks. I currently have an 1800mah 4.8. I went to cycle it last night and realized that the switch was on. Probably for a couple of weeks. The battery wont charge so I have to replace it. I was hoping to get away with something a little smaller.

You know those 110's are filled with helium, sometimes you need a little extra weight.

Could the ignition have been hurt from leaving the switch on?

Have no Idea crash. Shoot a PM to "tkg". But I doubt it would have hurt anything.

Crash90, if you know someone that has a mens charger, hook up that pack to it and let it give it a punch. I've salvaged a few packs that way. (ni-cads)

Mens Charger? I tried charging it with my digipulse. It only charges at 150mah. I could put it on the field charger and throw 2 amps on it if you think it will help?

I don't mind replacing the pack. It's only 34.00. I'd rather do that than take a chance on losing the plane. I don't know much about ignitions and I wasn't sure if it could be harmed. I thought these things had some kind of safety device built in that would cut the battery off after a certain amount of time?

Engine off idle current on a CH unit is in the 30-40mah range. I have one on my test bench that runs 7hr a day, 5 days a week. Its been doing that for 6 years. Your unit should be OK.
Zap the battery with a couple of amps for 30 sec or so, then see if your standard charger will charge it OK.

Mike,

If you're going to be using the Fromeco system, which I think is excellent BTW, why not regulate it down to 5.1 or 5.3 volts? That's providing that you have the adjustable regulator. The extra voltage above 4.8 doesn't do anything other than draw down the battery quicker, I believe. It would give you a few more flights before re-charging.

The Fromeco adjustable regulator is quite an amazing little tool. It gives us quite a few more options, with excellent amperage capability, among other things. If yours has the shorting pins, just hook it up to a digital voltmeter and short it up or down to where you want it.
