Default BME 100 Prop & Spinner

Need a prop & spinner for a BME 100.

The engine was previously run (just purchased used) on a 26/10.

I assume I would run a similar prop on my older (just rebuilt it - from a different modeler from the above listed one) Carden 35% Extra (should weigh 26 - 27 Lbs when done).

There is some used stuff I have seen that is drilled for 3W/DA- would I be able to use one of these by enlarging the single hole to ~7/16 or will there be too much weakening already?

What alternative size/pitch props would be acceptable?

Let me know your thoughts and what you might have available to sell (or Trade)

Thanks
Eric

You can use a prop that has been drilled for the 3W/DA/zdz. I have used them on my BME engines before. Just enlarge the center hole like you mentioned. The 2 props that I prefer on my BME 100 are the Menz 26-10 and the Airwild NX 26-10. The BME engines are easy to use and powerful, so you will like it. As far as the spinner goes, just pick a size that fits your cowl.

I have tried a couple of pre-drilled props.
I always fill in the holes with epoxy and then re-drill them for the locatior studs.
People say this is wrong, but works for me.

Thanks for the replies.

I bought a prop & spinner already drilled for a 3W/DA.

Now some solid advice regarding filling the 3W/DA holes in the prop that are now not needed.

Will filling these holes be beneficial?

Is the hole filling with epoxy only appropriate for composite props only.

The prop I bought is a Menz wood. Which makes the most sense

1) leave the holes - do nothing
2) Fill the holes with epoxy
3) Epoxy in dowels to fill the holes

Thanks for the guidance

I use epoxy. I tape over one side and fill the hole from the other.
Mix some saw dust if you want but straight epoxy seems to work good.

I have thought about this as well - though in my case I am contemplating filling in holes to re-drill a new 6 bolt pattern.

If you use epoxy I suppose you could consider mixing in heavy dose of milled fiberglass- anybody tried that?
