Had a heck of a surprise today when landing and the throttle went bonzo. This is second flight with new G-26 and thought I was having some linkage problem but everything checked out. Another gasser club member asked me if I was using a shielded plug wire....DUH...No...could that cause it? He said I should get one and re-range check it with the Rx that i am using... a JR700. ......cheaper that a new plane FER SHORE! any thoughts from anyone?? Mikel-T

As long as it has a resistor plug it should be OK. The 3W's an DA's use a non-resistor plug, that's why you see the shielded plug wire and cap. With that being said, I had a G-62 one time that I had to ground the ignition cap to the case to cure it. Look for something else like the throttle linkage, most guys use a ny-rod on a gas engine to prevent the signal from getting in the radio area. Bosch and NGK makes a resistor plug cap, can't hurt

The Bosch cap is made for a 14mm spark plug and is shielded..Won't fit the 10mm plug in the G26 without a C&H mod..The NGK cap is made for the CM6 spark plug and is not shielded...
Must be something else, almost all G26 engines work just fine without any shield at all....
Try a new plug, Champion RZ7C or NGK CMR6....
WWW.sparkplugs.com sells both....

I don't think you are supposed to use a resitor cap with a resistor plug. It may cause ignition problems. For sure do not use a metal pushrod for your throttle. Also stay away from carbon fiber or anything else that can conduct electricity back to your radio. Keep your receiver, battery, wiring and antenna as far from the motor as possible, can't hurt. I also only use PCM with gas engines. Its just more piece of mind for me when I am flying them. One last thing. Do not run your antenna close and parellel to the push rods to the rear of the plane. It can cause all sorts of interfierence if it is close to them. Jeff
