You can have them made or make your own in about ten minutes of work, I use 3/4" dowel drilled down the middle and wrapped with fiberglass or carbon fiber and epoxy to prevent splitting. You can make them any length you want too.

I just bought a set of these on his website. That guy makes great stuff. I ordered all my servo arms from him last night through Chief Aircraft.

Go to SWB Mfg's site. they sell a slick little standoff package for about $22 that allows several adjustments. They match the DA50 red screws also.

I specifically asked them if they had 3 1/2 inch and he said no (spoke with Jeff). What's weird is with a Slimline pitts, you almost have to have 3.5 inch or the muffler hits the firewall.

Give DA a call and see what they have. I THINK my stock ones were 3" and they swapped them out for 3 1/2" on my WH 28% planes.

I can't remember for sure what length mine are. I'll try to get a measurement for you. Here's two pics, one with the stock stand offs and the other with the ones they replaced. I'm also running the Slimline Pitts on both mine.

Ok, that makes sense. My firewall is much bigger so the muffler chamber hits on the bottom of the firewall. Your firewall does not go down that low so it clears. I guess not everyone really does need the 3.5 inch stand offs then. I do though. Thanks.

Another method is to use bolts and double nut them on both ends. I have used carriage bolts inside the firewall and double nuts at the engine. Double nuts at the engine also allow the thrust lines to be easily tweaked.

My local Ace Hardware store has nylon standoffs in 1/2, and various other sizes. I have used them and find they are strong, lightweight, and inexpensive. check it out.

I made my standoff spacers from some solid aluminum bar I ordered from a kite store on the internet. I dont remember the name of the company but I am sure you can find this material at several locations. Mine also have 3 degrees of offset built into them.
Cost $8.00
Tip: If you want to standoffs to match the motor perfectly put a dowel through them after they are cut and mount them on a drill. Then, spin the drill up and place some sandpaper on the side of the spacer as it spins. The result is brushed aluminum spacers!

JoeAirPort,
I measured my standoffs today on my DA 50's. The stock ones are 2.5" and the the ones they swapped out for me are 3". So the 3" ones may very well be as long of standoff that DA has for their 50.

Yeah I wish I had my spacer kit from SWB right now. I made an engine stand out of 1/4 inch ply and quarter round. The engine has to be pretty far down on the firewall to clear the muffler, but then the bolt hits the quarter round bracing on the bottom inside of the engine box. I prefer to make sure my engine runs good on the stand before putting it in a new plane. I won't have it flying until spring.
And yes I will only run the engine for short periods at lower RPM's. I'll also use a smaller break in prop. I know engine stands can be leathal to these engines if you're not careful.
