Default Isolator for electronic ignition?

Can anyone tell me if it's really necessary to have an isolator with electronic ignition?

I'm building a 3rd scale Extra 91" span but wont be ready for a while and want to by a cheap smaller plane using a petrol engine.

A Blackhorse Cap 232 80" span with a 45cc MVVS engine. It has electronic ignition, does this mean I need a isolator with that one as well? I'm trying to keep the plane light, so if I don't need it then I wont bother but if I get interference from the high tension lead then I'll need an isolator..... Is this true???

The ignition is all shielded except for the power wire...If you keep the ignition battery and switch away from the receiver and battery there should be no problem...No RF can get by the shielded spark plug wire and cap...

Sorry it's an Opto Isolator.

"The Opto Isolator Unit is designed to electrically disconnect and isolate all servos and their associated wiring from the receiver, thereby removing all radio frequency interference entering the receiver via the servo connections. The use of this unit has several other benefits including improved receiver operating range and the possibility of running the servos and receiver on different supply voltages. The unit is supplied with eight short fly-leads fitted with universal plugs for connection to the receiver and eight standard pin connectors for connection to the servos".

Thanks for all the info! It will save me money and weight. Battery, isolator, huge amount of wiring is about 200g or .44lbs.
Cool.
So just keep the switches and battery for the receiver as far away as possible from the switch and battery for the ignition? Any added insulation?

If you put every new" Must have, or it will crash gadget in your plane."it will not be able to fly.
My safety electrical gadgets are, 2 wraps of black electricans vinyl tape, to keep all plug and sockets together. Period.

Are you using an ignition kill switch from SM?

Hi Peter,
I'm still building it and don't have the engine yet. I like to do my homework before I spend money. I thought you close the throttle like a glow engine?? Kill switch??
