I own four Fuji 32 engines two in airplanes and 2 in the box waiting to be mounted in a new Ziroli B-25 i'm building. In my club we've had a lot of problems with the crankcase cracking on the engines just below and along the head gasket. I've already had one of my engines replaced because of this crack and I know of 5 other engines that belong to 3 other club members that have also had their engines replaced. I also know of two airplanes that were lost because of this. The head fell off while the engine was in flight. Yes, I saw it with my own eyes. Bottom line is their a problem with this engine or what precaution can I take to avoid this issue with my B25!

My Feedback: (11)
Some people have had issues with the casting on the crankcase. Unfortunately, there is no way to insure that parts are not lost if the engine does have a major failure and ocme apart. We can only state that is is not a common happening for the case to catastrphically fail in the manner you mention.

Is it a common problem for the cases to crack at all? Because when the case cracks the engine usually will not idle well and sometimes quits while in flight. The B25 being a twin, I'm sensitive to losing an engine in flight. Can you recommend any precautions I should take to help insure the engines don't have an issue?
