May I ask where you purchased your MVVS 45?
If outside the US were you required to pay taxes or duty for import?
Afain, if ourside US, what carrier was used?
Thanks for your help!!!

Some news. MVVS is making the .45cc engine in a special variant with better ballbearings and titanium stub shaft, also a new controllable ignition system with smaller sparkplug head and sparkplug will be available soon for all MVVS petrol engines. In the sommer a new 80cc engine will be produced.

Not so rediculous.
In the meantime, MVVS has fixed some minor bugs and changed the front bearing system and ignition of the 45.
For results: I have tested the engine with MTW canister mufflers. Header length proved sufficient long to allow the use of swan neck headers. See [link=http://www.prme.nl/forum/viewtopic.php?t=54]here[/link] for the results.
Fuel is Aspen at 1:33 mix with Putoline RS959. Starting is instant, once you get the hang of Aspen. A crowd always gathers to see it happen. [8D]
With non-restricted engine, my 20 lbs tow plane crisply moves out of sight vertically without slowing down. Due to local field noise issues I had to restrict the engine with a 26cc carb and specially restricted MTW TD90 canister, so now the tow plane has towering verticals, but still is fully aerobatic at 78 dB(A) (at 7 meters). With this carb there is absolutely no midrange burble. It sets in just above idle, so even if a little power is applied in landing, the engine reacts to every click of throttle. Power in this setup is much like a pitts muffler style setup which btw looses some 1000 rpm over the can muffler
Stick is set up to open the throttle to 1/3rd when the stick is at 50% to compensate for the lousy Walbro linearity.

Running backwards is initiated at too low an idle setting and using a light prop. It then is possible (with the Vlach ignitions only) to go to full throttle in clockwise running with only a very slightly retarded ignition. This may cause the connecting rod nut to unscrew (lefthanded pitch), and cause damage.
The new ignitions prevent this from happening and shut down when the engine runs clockwise. It can be done because the magnets now are at 120° versus the 180° in the Vlach ignition, and the reset magnet is leading.

It running too lean. Richen it by 1/2 a turn. Also you can get the MVVS a lot cheaper at Morris hobbies. http://www.mvvs.com
