looking at and reading brisons dead website i see where the engines are ionized except for the 2.4 I ordered and received a 3.2 and its not ionized. the website shows it as being ionized blue.no biggy.i had a lil problem with the ignition.the hall sensor slid back in its mount after running the engine for a couple minutes and the engine quit. i pulled the cowl off my new plane, the one i thought was ready to fly.i push the sensor back in place, thought maybe a fluke.it ran about 2 minutes and quit again.i called brison and harvey told me the set screws threads where suppose to cut into and hold the sensor on the timing ring. He checked several and told me they were all sliding and the set screw hole was misaligned.he told me to ca it in place or i could send it to them to fix.The plane its in is the gp wagstaff arf ive been waiting for since last spring.not wanting further delays i glued with ca.Solved the sliding problem. I carried it to field, fired it up let it warm up and taxed it around for 4 or 5 minutes, making sure it was flight ready.Thank goodness. It popped and spit while i was taxing it,coughed and quit.back to the bench.pulled the plug.no fire.sensor hasnt moved.i pulled the ignition out and sent it to CH ign. to test.CH said there wasnt anything wrong with it and that the new brisons timing ring setup placed the hall sensor too far from the magnet in prop hub with only .010 or 020 clearance needed. mine has about 1/8 inch clearance.when he said the new brison engines...........it made me wonder????????????.....for your planes sake check the sensor.im not sure if im returning my new engine or fixing it myself.I am sure i shouldnt have to do anything after dropping that kinda dough on an engine.have you got a new brison.....

RC sorry about that, but on the new Brisons the magnet is in the side of a smaller prop hub and the sensor overhangs the magnet. No way to adjust the airgap, except by heating the sensor and bending it until the plastic cools.

Mr. rc,
One minor point, except for the 2.4, the cases are anodized not "ionized".
On my Brison 5.8 I had the same problem with the sensor backing out. Fortunately for the Corsair, it was about 100' high when the engine quit and I easily made it back to the runway. The set screw did not make any thread marks on the sensor as it should have. I pushed it in until it bottomed out and then pulled it back about 0.030". I then glued it to the ring with Zap-A-Dap-A-Goo. No more trouble.
This seems like a very easy task to get right the first time but drilling that hole in the right place for the set screw must be extremely difficult. Go figure.
I haven't heard of any new Brison engines. It seems they are getting left behind in the weight, power output, and price catagories. An example: the new ZDZ 100cc twin sold by RC Showcase for $945 and weighing 4 lb 15 oz with ignition.

mr. rc,
Is it possible that you got a 2.4 instead of a 3.2. You can look up the external specs on Brison's web site. If not, then they must have saved a few bucks on anodizing. I personally am interested in performance, not whether an engine is gold, blue, green, or purple. That's just eye wash. Did you get the one with Syncro Spark or the mechanical advance. I heard recently that they were going to Syncro Spark?

i had a 2.4 and sent it back for the 3.2 because it was below recommended engine size for the gp wagstaff.it had the word brison machined into it.im interested in performance too, thats why i question the 3.2 originality.if it were one with the blue case i probably wouldnt have had an continue to have the problem with the hall sensor.theres an eighth inch gap between it and prop hub and no way to adjust that gap.what lil ive run the engine it is very strong.it has the syncro spark auto advance ignition.im not disappointed in its power just the fact that for a lil over 600.00 i shouldnt be having problems out of the box.the 3.2 has only a tiny sticker that says brison.........peel that off and its anybodys guess
