I am new in ¼ scale acrobatic aircraft. I have just bought an EXTRA 330 L with a wingspan of 2.00 m. The manufacturer suggests 40-50 cc. gas engines. I want to power the plane with an MVVS, can the more experienced pilots in this forum please advise me which engine to use, the MVVS 45 MG with 5.2 bhp which weighs 1400gms or the MVVS 58 which has more horse power but is 400gms heavier?
Any replies will be well appreciated.

It depends on what you want the airplane to do. Bigger is better and the more power the better.
My philosophy is; it is better to have too much power than not enough. If the added 400 grams doesn't present a balance problem buy the 58. Then, as you become comfortable with the airplane and want to do radical maneuvers you will have the power needed to do them.

Hello,
Since you already have the plane, install the radio etc. Then attach a container of some sort to the firewall. Add weight to the fire wall, until it balances. Then weigh the container with the weights in it . This will tell you if you can afford to put the heavy engine in the plane without major tail weght added. The 45cc sounds good to me for a 78" span and about 1100 square inches area.
