Default G230 PORTING FOR TORQUE

HELLO ALL.
JUST PICKED UP A FG EVO 3 TOURING CAR WITH A BRAND NEW UN STARTED G230 ZENOAH AND WOULD LIKE TO HERE YOUR IDEAS ON PORTING THE ENGINE FOR MAX TORQUE...I AM VERY HANDY WITH THE MARINE ENGINE WHEN I WAS CHASSING MAX RPM BUT I AM HEARING MIXED REPORTS ON THE BEST WAY TO GET THE TORQUE FROM THIS ENGINE...I HAVE A CLOSED CRANK READY FOR INSTALL BUT WOULD LIKE TO HEAR IDEAS ON HOW FAR TO TAKE THE PORTS.

Vett,
Advancing the port timing can produce more power, but you may loose low end torque. Stuffing the case and increasing compression usually works better. Eleminating restrictions to charge flow also help a lot. Freeing fuel charge trapped in the piston has always been a good way to increase torque. You may want to pick a good used engine as a platform for your experiments. Here is a G23 ported piston and a stock piston.

well there is other porting styles that can add low end power, liek adding hooks(hangers) to the transfers. or porting the transfers to have more of a rounded shape and no so squared and the port walls.

i wouldnt suggest running the G23LH Piston in any type of RC Cylinder because you WILL catch the ring, even if you flip the piston. the only way you could probably use a LH Piston in an RC Engine is if you have a Trevor Simpson Casereed and havent cut the 5th or 6th ports in the cylinder yet.

you could also add a reed valve but you have a change of intake velocity being slower.
