Default Clunk Line????

I am finding that the neoprene clunk line will not stay on the brass tubing in the fuel tank. Anyone have a good solution here on how to keep it on? I was thinking of using a nylon cable tie but am not sure if they are compatible in gasoline. Will that work?

Thanks.

I use a length of nichrome wire. You could use any sort of wire I would think. Perhaps even a bread-tie. The nylon cable tie should also work.

Nylon zip ties work fine. You can get the little 3" or 4" size zip ties. They work great. Flexible enough to form a nice tight clamp around an 1/8" or 5/32" brass tube and fuel tubing. Pull it tight and then use a pair of needle nose to push on the little clamp knuckle and use a second set of pliers to pull the loose end real tight. Cut the loose end off with a pair of needlenose cutters. Should stay put for a season. I usually re-plumb the tank in my gassers every year just for safety anyway. I don't mess with the lines outside the tank if they look good. But, I'll replace the stopper, brass tubes and lines inside the tank on a yearly basis out of habit.

Wire can cut the tubing if you don't watch what you're doing. As already noted, the nylon wire tie should be okay.

You may also want to try putting one of those cute little DuBro fuel line barbs on the brass tube:

You can use fuel line barbs. You can also use a 1/4" wide second piece of the same tubing stretched over the fitting.

I use barbed fittings from B&B, Easyflex fuel tubing (good luck finding any in stock at the hobby shops), and either steel spring clamps from the plumbing section at Home Depot or stainless steel wire twisted around the tubing to make sure it stays in place.

Thanks all for the advice! I'll try getting some of those barbs either at B&B or Tower. Thanks again.

Hayes Products seamless molded neoprene doesn't slip off straight brass tubing..No wires, tie wraps, or barbs needed...The small size works on ANY gasser, I am running a 3W 157 twin using this tubing...And yes, the small size easily stretches over the large metal fuel inlet fitting on the Tillotson carb....

RCIGN,

I used the "medium" size and it slipped off the brass tube from a Dubro tank. I found that it stays attached well to the clunk though. So, I should get "small" size?
