Default RCIGN, Is this Your Work?

Just aquired this engine for a "reasonable" price. Was listed as a Walker 4.2. Looks like it may be your ignition conversion. Is it?
Thanks

My conversion but more likely an A&M engine.. Walker engines had a white delrin ring on the front for the sensor..
Look at the con rod, if it's copper colored the crank is a Sachs..Walker 4.2s have the top 2 crankcase bolts parallel to the bottom 2, A&Ms were not...The cases are otherwise identical, and if the crank is a Sachs the engines will run the same..A&M cranks were not known for their longevity....

Thanks Ralph, thought it was. It definately has a Sachs crank, and you are right, it is an A&M. Always wondered how to tell a Walker from an A&M. Already know the crank ID, and all about the "soft" cranks. Seems their reputation, makes even the ones with a good crank reasonable to buy. I don't need my ego soothed by a "label".
BTW the plug wire insulation has been burned by a rear muffler. Can it be removed from the coil and replaced?

The coil is a Zenoah/Red Max, same as a G62 but with a longer wire. The wire is molded in...You can probably put a few layers of heat shrink over the wire and keep it away from the cylinder somehow, it should be OK....

Sorry if I'm jumping in on your thread TLH, but I have a question for Ralph about the A&M engines. I have a A&M 2.0 and if the engine ever messes up or breaks a rod or I just need it repaired, can you do that Ralph? I didnt know if you carried any of these parts. What would you compair the 2.0 to with any of todays engines?
Thanks guys!!
John

The little 2.0 was/is one of the best A&M engines...Only thing I could fix would be a bent crank or carb parts..the piston and cylinder are Sachs parts, probably still available from a chainsaw dealer, Sachs was bought by Makita a few years ago...
It is as good as anything today in the same size range....Brison and Fox made the other A&M engines, maybe they also made the 2.0...If not, they should have

Depending on what parts your 2.0 would need for service, the 2.4 jug and piston will bolt on most 2.0
