Hi,
the 3w-48 has been replaced with the 3w-56. I have 2 of the 48s and they are a smooth running engine. While they are rated at 0.2 hp more than the 3w-50 single, they turn a 22 x 8 about 100-200 rpms less than the 3w-50 single. The 48 is rated at 5 hp where the 50 single is rated at 4.8 hp. The 56 twin should be more powerful.

thanks a ton for the info. I plan to put it in a DP extra 330L, and was debating between that and a DA 50. however, i think i like the idea of a dual cylinder. what do you think of single vs. dual cylinder?

I have a 48, neat little motor. The advantage of a twin is they are smoother running and sound better, other than that, it's hard to justify the extra weight and expense. Got mine used cheap, and I run a 22X10 on it.

Only small downside is the little extra weight.
