Hey guys
I just picked up a CRRC 65cc with CDI...........I have read the horror stories on the 45cc and recently the 26cc...........to which the importer assures me have all been resolved. I thought for a little over $400 AUD it was half the price of a G62 and worth a try, this engine is the V3 ..............any of you had any experience running these as yet.
If it actually runs reliably I will install into a TF GS P47.....
cheers

Ok guys
here's the report on the CRRC Pro 65cc engine........
On inspection the engine was a little rough in the casting and the chrome plated pitts style muffler also looked a little rough, the CDI ignition looked very similar to the DA units. The enginw comes complete with standoffs, moffler and CDI ignition module, no instructions were provided however I found some rudimentary instructions poorly translated on the sellers web site.
I mounted the engine on a test bench fitted with an APC 22 x 10 prop and installed a 24oz tank filled with 25:1 98 Ron ULP........the oil was Mineral/Synth Valvoline for two strokes (from the local mower shop)
The ignition battery was a Sanyo 1500 Mah Nicad
After closing the choke and priming the engine with 10 rotations of the prop the carb was dripping fuel so I give the prop a flip and it fired immediately.......hmmm this was encouraging..
....I then released the choke and flipped again and the engine fired on the fourth flip of the prop and settled into a nice idle at 1700 rpm.
After a few minutes at idle and getting some heat into the engine I opened the throttle and the engine span up happily to 6000 rpm with excellent throttle response.
After a further two tanks of fuel , the CRRC 65 spins the APC prop to 7000 rpm and idles indefinitely with no hint of stalling or fouling the plug (event with 25:1 fuel!)
After almost an hour of running at various throttle settings and 1.5 litres of fuel, the "Cheap n Cheerful" Chinese donk runs a treat !.....it starts first time hot and on the third flip when primed from cold......the only fault was the blistering of the chrome on the manifold......which for the price I can live with !
This engine has brilliant throttle response, runs very cool and even after only 1.5 lites of fuel seems ready for install into a model !
I was so impressed I picked up another on ebay for only $365 AUD !!!..(that's around $285 US) .........what a bargain
After the horror stories of other CRRC engines (26 and 45 cc) I think they are on a real winner with this one......it will be interesting to see how the long term running goes !
cheers

a 65cc turning an APC 22x10 at 7000?? With a real prop that is gonna be in the low to mid 6k I have a 46cc that will turn than that sitting right here and most 50s on the market will beat that.
That's kinda like buying a Kia 4 banger and sticking a 5.8L sticker on it.

I think you are missing the point..........for those in the market for a cheap reliable gasser I think this engine would be ideal, and the fact that it could spin a way out of balance 22 x 10 to 7k after two minutes of running was impressive (when considering the price paid which includes the CDI and pitts muffler). I expect the CRRC 65 to spin a balanced 22 x 10 at around 7500 to 8k once run in.
Gas engines here in Oz are still very expensive do not have the choice of brands nor spare parts support, as such they are not nearly as prevelent as in the States (as we do not have the market size of the US) and an entry level gasser that is inexpensive is a sensation.
I recently paid over $1200 AUD for a 3W80 which could have bought 3 x 65's for that price. (not that I'm comparing a 3W to the CRRC 65) ........however for the 80" to 90" market I think these engines will get the likes of Zenoa and Fuji etc to trim up their price, as competition is good for the consumer.

Hi Spitmad,
We are testing this same engine, you are revering to it as the CRRC Pro 65 and we call it the Peak 65. I have found mine to be a very nice engine, and here in Namibia I can sell it cheaper than a G62. As for Sinergy: The Engine will put any and I mean any G62 to shame in the power dep. (I know, I own a G62 also) I turn a Menz S 22X10 at 8000 RPM flat. I do not want to bash a Zenoah, I have a few, and they are the easiest and most reliable engines I have owned, but for a better price o get an engine that is lighter, an out performs a G62 by 1500RPM at that price, its worth talking about.

The Peak 65 at my field is a real stomp puller. The guy has a 24x8 MSC on it, and it pulls a Lanier Yak around like a foamy. I think he said his yak weighes 19lbs. It's on par with a 3W 60, power wise (same guy has a Lanier Edge 3W60 combo)... the 3W runs smoother.

I just saw the thread on the Peak 65 and yes you are right, they are one and the same engine !
Glad to hear that yours is performing well........As I have only run mine on a test bench and it was fantastic .....have you had any reliability issues ?
I was so impressed with mine that I bought a second on ebay for $365.00 AUD, the comparable G62 retails here in Australia for around $750 and that is without the pitts muffler and CDI so there is really no contest price wise as the CRRC/peak 65 is half the price and is fitted with CDI and a pitts muffler..........and yes they are bl**dy loud
.........just what i need in a big warbird !!

I don't know why some choose to call this the CRRC Pro engine? CRRC Pro doesn't even have a 65cc engine in their lineup. The engines official name is GS65i. The only thing referring to who makes it is a small list of CCT Team on its instructions. Neither CRRCPro USA or CRRCPro.com (China) .. has a 65cc engine! CRRCPro China lists the following size engines on their website: GF26i, GW26i, GF26i SP, GF40i, GF45i, GF50i, GF55i, and GF80ii. There is NO CRRC Pro 65cc ... and I wish people would not assciate it with CRRC Pro which has had a spotty reputation. I own what is referred to as the Peak 65cc ... simply because Peak sells it. It is the GS65i.

I refer to the engine I purchased as the CRRC 65 as this is what is was sold as here in Australia, it is also refered to as a
GSi 65cc (CRRC Pro) on the sellers web site. (maybe the sellers web site is incorrect
)
Makes no never mind to me, it's obviously the same engine as the Peak 65 and I am still very impressed by the price and ease of use.
In future I will make all reference to this engine as a GSi 65 to avoid any confusion.
cheers

I was just going by your numbers and the prop that was used. APCs are pretty useless on anything over 18" and tend to spin high numbers with no thrust.
That being said Dries numbers are impressive.. almost too impressive really.. but who knows I dont have one sitting here to really say either way. RPMs are always a hot topic and never cease to amaze me how people who have the same engine get such huge differences. Look at the DA 50 there are numbers people are quoting that are 500 rpms different using the same prop and similar sealevel relations.
The other thing that caught my eye was how you said it when from 6000 - 7000 with 1 tank of gas... unless there is tuning involved between tanks engines just dont do that. Most engines from any brand pick up 200-500 rpms over the coarse of the first 2-5 gallons and thats about it. However since several people have said some higher numbers then I might be considering that yours may have an issue of some sort or is not properly tuned yet.

Alan, I saw the very seller you are referring to advertising this engine on Ebay. He called it the CRRCPro there as well. I am sure what he is doing is giving the engine a name that people can associate it with. If he just listed it as "65cc Engine", probably no one would buy it because ... they don't have any idea where its from. If he just called it "GS65i" .. he'd probably have the same problem. So, what do you do ?? ... Well, its from China, and most folks think of CRRCPro when you think of Chinese converted chainsaw engines .. so ... Call it that! I am very sure he is aware of wher he gets the engine ... and it is not from CRRC Pro.
Your seller isnot the only one doing that either. Sylvian1975, the guy in Hong Kong that sells the DL -50 on Ebay, started out calling the DL-50 the "Picco 50cc DL-50" gas engine. The DL-50 hasn't got anything to do with Picco Engines, but he needed a brand name to associate it with the ease potential buyers nerves. Now that it is a hot seller, he only refers to it as the DL-50. Same seller, Sylvian1975 also sells the GS65i on Ebay. He calls it the "Peak 65". Peak doesn't make this engine, and he does't get them from Peakmodel, which happens to be in New Zealand. What he does know is that Peak is selling them as the Peak 65, .. and he needed a name to associate with this engine, if he wanted to sell any of them. So, he's ripping off Peakmodels name and reputation to sell an engine that he gets from the manufacturer riight there in China, rather than Peakmodel in New Zealand. For the record, Peakmodel only acts as a middleman, because the stuff they sell is drop shipped direct from manufacturer in many cases, such as the engines they sell. I am looking at the box and shipping label that my Peak 65 came in, and it was shipped straight from SHANTOU CHINA. There is no mention of New Zealand or Peakmodel anywhere inside or outside of the box. It is addressed to me, and addressed from: &^$$%#, JINYAUN INDUSTRY ROAD, GUANGDONG, CHINA .... HUATAI TRADE CO. LTD. The addressee's name is in Chinese
. so, .. anyways .... this engine is NOT ... a CRRCPro engine. When people advertise it as such, they are ripping off anothers trademark. If he was gonna steal a name ... look like he'd have tried to find something more respectable than that though.

Looking forward to seeing your CR uh PE uh GS --- whatever 65cc something..
I want to see a 65cc anything turning a 22-10 at 8000 rpm...With a muffler, no pipe..
My G62 turns the Dynaflight 22-10 at 7500, we'll see..With whatever carb works the best

yep I agree on the APC prop , it has almost no pitch for 50% of the blade length but it was the only prop of that size I had handy at the time and as I said it was way out of balance and it pulled 6k rpm on the first big rev just after start up............I then let a full tank of juice go through it at 2000 to 5500 rpm before again giving it a boot full where it then pulled 7000 rpm............at this point the vibration from the prop was obvisouly holding things up.. I was just happy about the way this thing started first time and the incredible throttle response ..........and no I did not touch any needle settings at all..........there were all as it came out of the box
I will install a balanced 3W 20 x 12 and a Bolly 20x12 next and see how that goes..........I am not searching for massive revs just ease of starting and reliability, I'm a war bird pilot (so no 3D for me) and this is going into an 85" P47 which weighs in around 28 lubs and dead sticks are not exactly welcome, the other is going into a 96" Spit which may be a little underdone but I'll see how the Jug performs.
I will however maintain that (so far) this "cheap n cheerful" Chinese donk that starts first time and spins at a"reasonable" RPM is good value for money........what the long term prognosis is I don't know but for half the price of a G62 it is worth the experiment.
Mitsu1
Now that I have seen the other threads and the various names this same engine is known as, I agree.........."badge" engineering is nothing new but as you say it's all in the sales "spin"
I'll give you an update on the test when I fit some decent props
cheers

Hi, this is roger_and_jenny. I am distributing the GS65i engine here in Australia. I am just using CRRC Pro name because (1) it originated from them and was connected somehow (2) it doesn't have a brand. I could just put my own brand on it, 'Planet Roger', the factory is OK with that too, well, a name is just a name, happy customers are more important. These are really good engines. The only defect I found so far (not defect really), is the quality of the muffler. I am currently asking the factory to improve the muffler to give it an aluminium one, like the CRRC PRO 45cc, but a Pitts style instead. Hopefully the conversion will turn them into great engines. My website is http://www.rogerlee.net.au

hi all...
ive been reading this thread with great interest. i have direct contact with the Crrc factory in China. from what i have found out this 65cc engine was originally manufactured by Crrc.
However.......the factory DOES NOT have anything to do with this engine now. i dont know what company is manufacturing this engine currently.
as far as performance is concerned....its a 65cc engine pure and simple. there is no substitute for cubic inches. this fact alone will beat a zenoah G62.
if...in the end you cant get this engine to turn the numbers you want.....obtain an adaptor and convert it to run on methanol...i did with a 45cc engine and have never looked back. the added advantage is that you dont have an ignition system to worry about and shield from your radio gear.
cheers

We'll see if 3ccs make any difference, there's one on the way here....
Update...just got a 65cc "whatever" here...This is one very nice looking engine..If it runs like it looks it will be a winner...
The owner sent it to me with a Walbro HDA48D to test....The original carb is some kind of clone, havent looked at it closely yet...I'm making a carb rotator block to make the carb shaft parallel to the cylinder, I don't do bell cranks on throttles....
The mounting lugs are probably OK, but I'm making a plate that will be stronger...There was no muffler with it, so the tests will be with open exhaust, maybe a Slimline Pitts will fit, haven't tried it yet....
It has the now standard rc exl ignition, it will be correctly timed at 28 BTDC, not 40 by some kind of measurement of the sensor and magnet...
It's NIB and never run, feels nice and smooth but not tight.....
We'll see

Denney47, They are surely the same engine from the same factory. Have you run yours yet? Your impressions? Those that have run and posted here show promise. Ralph, ... any info yet ?

Yes I have ran it, it will take time to see how long they will last but runs great and a very nice item is how they start. This engine starts easier than my DA or ZDZ at about half the price. There is one on ebay now for a starting price of $289.00 and a buy it now for $369.00. At that price I can have a spare.
#21
Sylvian1975 also has it in his Ebay Store for Buy It Now price of $299.99 + $35 shipping. Now that's a price you really can't beat!

Yes I really like the GS65i it is a great engine and you are right time will tell how long they will last but it is a great engine. Sorry but I thought he was talking about CRRC engine in his post.
