Did I manage to tightened the prop nut too tight? The stud has snapped of in the hub.
This is a brand new engine, just mounted in the plane, I have yet to test run the engine. I was mounting a spinner adapter nut when it let go.
1) Where do I get a replacement stud?
2) How do I get hub off to remove the remaining stud?
3) Is the Heli engine the same set up minus the stud and hub?
If so, where can I get a hub & a new stud?

Damn Mike, that's too soon! Go easy on those things, they don't have to be run down so tight the metals become one. Send Ralph at RCIGN1 a PM and he'll get back to you on the right way to do things. You're in a hard part of the world to pick up spare parts but he may be able to help.

it happened to me as well...i think it does only in the middle east...
this is only a "too tight" thing.
get the old stud go to any craftsman shop - should be cheap where u at..., and make a new one. but this time, reinforce that with "hot oil" fast cooling process - i forgot the ebglish term for that
good luck

The studs are 6mm where they screw into the crankshaft, and 8mm on the prop end...
Not a good situation...The first one we sent to a magazine had the same problem...
the solution was to make a 2 piece hub...first piece has the magnet in it for the ignition, is tapered inside, and is held on the crank by a 6mm grade 8 allen bolt in the center..The other piece is bolted to the first with three 10-32 grade 8 allen bolts, and is tapped for the prop bolt, also grade 8...It would take a sledge hammer to break the hub off the crank or the 5/16 grade 8 prop bolt...
Anyone wants some stock studs, I have a box full...Horizon gets about $15, mine are free..
.
Heat the hub, tap it sideways with a wood or plastic hammer, it will fall off the taper...
B H Hanson Products sells our 2 piece hubs....[8D]

Thanks RCIGN1, got the hub off very quickly. Now the challenge to get the broken stud removed.
What about my third question, Is the Heli engine the same set up minus the stud and hub?
If so, where can I get a hub & a new stud? I need to buy online (credit card, as I cannot get a Paypal account here in Kuwait)

Same engine, the heli carb has a primer bulb...The heli engine might have only one front bearing and a crank seal..
Like I said, I have a box with 20 or so studs in it, taken off new engines...Shipping only, you're on your own for the nut and washer....
If your engine is new the hub will be OK....
There's some Loctite on the broken piece..You could Dremel a small slot in the piece, heat the end of the crank, and use a screwdriver. It would be best to take the crank out. The heli and airplane engines have two front bearings..The outer one is sealed..You don't want to get the bearing too hot a damage the seal...A small slot in the end of the crank won't hurt anything.....
