Name that engine
Greetings all,
I recently obtained this gas engine that came off of an RPV (Remotely Piloted Vehicle)
It is in beautiful shape and was never really run as the RPV never flew.
Only trouble is, I have no idea what this engine is. The most unique thing is that it has the crankshaft extending out both ends. I think it must be about 40cc in displacement.
I have posted several pictures at the following location and would sure appreciate somebody taking a look and maybe letting me know what I have here.
Take a look by Clicking here.
Thank you all in advance for your time and effort.

Thank you for such a quick reply and answer!
I knew the guru's here at the universe can answer any RC question there is?
May I ask how you were able to deduce what size the engine is?
Also, is the clutch shaft a bonus or a hindrance for large scale use. If the later, can a different crankshaft be installed?
Again, thank you.
P.s to anyone interested...I have no intention of using this engine and every intention of selling it...

121/1C is a 5.8--121/1B is a 5.2..49ZN2 is a 4.2..47ZN is a 3.7..
You already have the best crank possible..The rear shaft extension is sometimes used for a spring starter when the engine is run with the stock magneto ignition..It is of no use when electronic ignition is used....

RCIGN,
Thanks for all of your help.
The head on this one is stamped "121/1C"
Can you tell by the pics which type of ignition this has?
Thanks again...

It has the stock magneto...The aluminum piece behing the flywheel is just a cover..The chainsaw had the same thing but it was part of the casting....
The black wire will stop the engine when grounded to the case...

What??
It is most likely an A&M. They made a run of them for the Army . Not RPV, but a TARGET DRONE.
The engines survived better than the planes did, so a bunch of them ended up in a military salvage yard. They were sold as scrap by the pound

Looks like a T&G hub.I have some here in a box..The A&M hub would have been 6 bolts..Either way they're good, the A&M would be before they started making their own junk cranks,,This one has the good Sachs crank..
rc-for-me..Was the muffler a casting with 3 pipes and T&G cast into the side ??

RCIGN,
I have added pictures of the muffler to my original engine link.
It looks like a custom exhaust pipe mated to a commercially available header.
If your interested in seeing pictures of the drone that is just a bit larger than the one this engine was installed on, Click here (they are at the bottom of the page.

RCIGN,
My RC Club received three drones as a donation.
The one in the pictures is the largest.
The other two were smaller and about the same setup. Between the two of them, we have one ready to fly! We are having difficulty getting permission from AMA to flight test it. (insurance don't you know).
The Norton Rotary engine was turning a 24" prop. I don't know the pitch.
Do you know where I can find specs such as Displacement, Horsepower, Torque, RPM range, etc on the Sachs 5.8?
