Did you have any problems with the engines with broken fins?

DA has actually machined the majority of fins off some of their engines that one of the pro's uses to save weight. I guess they didn't have any overheating issues.

i beat if u put a temp gun on it with fins the heat may leave the motors seconds sooner than a motor that doesn't have fins. but all in all not a major problem

Last I heard he was short handed due to Steve being on vacation which put him behind. You have to fix customers engines before you can build new ones.

Not to make excuses for Keith, but you can get very far behind when 50% of your employees are gone for even a short period of time. When I loose key employees to vacation, sickness, etc. it does affect my ability to service my customers too.

Ralph,

Not wanting to beat a dead horse, but it's probably a good thing if a revised release date was to be provided--by the manufacturer--since he originally provided a rough release date. The same thing doesn't need to get started a third time.

If you can't meet a date, don't give one in the first place.
If you don't really have a product to sell, don't give a date.

I'm not sure why BME can't seem to learn this.....

Holy smoke, 7 weeks behind? Where did the Aug 1 ship date go? I guess I don't understand why folks aren't kept aware of such extreme schedule changes.

How many of the people on here have sent in $299 (special "pre-purchase" pricing)?

I doubt many... I think the track record kinda encouraged people not too.. and now its atleast 7 weeks behind the original date when they were apparently testing carbs back in May.

I suspect the reasons are valid. There's no reason for not releasing this time other than work loads. Truthfully the delays were probably caused by an employee vacation along with work taking place on a new design carb and handling old 115 issues. That's enough to set time factors back a bit.

If it was me, at least this time, I would just sit back and wait a bit for the release. I'm confident it's going to happen, unlike the 55.

Not to back BME (or not, I don't care either way), but 7 weeks on a product that takes MONTHS of protoype testing, long lead time orders on castings and machined components, etc. is not an extreme schedule change. I agree that publishing a date far in advance is a bad idea, but a 7 week slip in a process that may have taken 18 months is not that bad. I have been involved in work projects that are YEARS late because of various issues and changes. It is not trivial to produce manufactured goods to a tight time schedule.

I'm very comfortable with the wait. I know how buisy it can get, and it will work when he ships it!

I'm in no hurry either, I just was surprised by the delay. I didn't know about the "history". I hope it gets finished and it's a strong performer.

If you do not want to wait 7 more weeks than go ahead and buy something else. Im sure when these engines come out he will sell every engine he makes.
