Wll it looks like the DL-50 will be the way to go . Thanks for all the input from everyone. In Utah we think planes are like wives and you can have more than one!

I just ordered the DL-50 myself.
There have been lots of positive feedback reports on the internet and here at RCU. In fact, during the time that I sampled, the DL-50 surpassed the DA-50 in customer satisfaction. Of course, if someone were to capture data from a later time frame, it could come out just opposite from my conclusions. To me, that means that both engines are good, from what I have seen.
I just can't see spending that much money ($650 with muffler, or thereabouts) for a sport gas engine. I'm not "serious" about R/C flying. I am not trying to emulate one of the 3D champs, I'm not fooling myself into thinking that I'll ever be notable at flying 3D, blah-blah-blah. I just want a 50cc engine that is fairly light, powerful, reliable and inexpensive. I think I have found that engine in the DL-50. We shall see.
If it turns out that I'm not satisfied with it, or after being great, I grow tired of it, I can get back 85 to 95% of my investment via the auction sites. So where is the risk?

I have a crashed/ repaired (5 gallons on bearings) and dont have radial runout in my bearings. Some thing to look for. Giant 3-D, I don't think there is another engine out there at this time that can even meet the DL-50 in all three categories. Don't take my word for it just look at the lack of responses. There are some very knowledgeable individuals here and I'm sure that if they could show you, they would show you.

As one newbie gasser to another, I did a lot of research and reading on 40-50cc class engines. I ended up getting the DL50 from Bob @ DLUSA in Irving, Texas. I was trying to figure out where to go to get one and then discovered his website. DANG... I only worked 10 minutes from his house. Got to meet the dealer in person and my first impression is he is there to serve. He said the DL50 thing started off as a help keep the hobby thing going but has turned in to way more. He is constantly checking his shipping orders to keep everyones orders on time and he answers emails and phone calls promptly. He called me with in minutes of the shipment drop.
I am planting this DL50 in a Great PLanes 27% Ultimate and WAY looking forward to flying this combo.
I have been flying pattern for a while and decided to take a break and join the gasser crowd. I have always loved the bipes and have had several smaller ones.
I hope this combo lives up to the expectations.

Just got my DL 50 for my 28% Ohio models Ultimate. Installed a Biela 22x8 carbon prop, used mounts and silencer supplied, primed and choked it...started first flick!! All I can say is the big boys better watch out as this motor has exceeded all expectations. I've tried many makes of petrol engine 3W, Fuji, ZDZ but this one tops the lot without doubt in my experience.
Awesome.

Ditto! Except mine is in a RM Yak.
Giant-3D, Get yours yet? After hearing all the positive feedback, you must have bought this engine.
