Default Engine equivalents

Hi all, had no luck with this post in Questions, so I decided to try it here;

I took the plunge and bought the Giant Super Sportster. I didn't get the engine, as I thniking that the Zenoah may be a better choice than the Fuji, (according to the Gas Engine Fourm).

The airplane calls for a 1.2 to 2.0 2 or 4 stroke, or 2.0 gas. Tower packages it with a Fuji 32 which just happens to fit the specs.

My question is just what are the equivalents? This will be my first gasser; I've flown nothing but 2/4 stroke glow. With glow, I've always been under the impression that 2 stroke puts out more power that 4 stroke for equal displacement. Why does GP recommend the same size range for 2/4 stroke?

Where will a 2.0 gas fit in to the range? Do they put out power equal to a 2 or 4 stroke? I'm tending toward the Zenoah G38 at this time, but I've got plenty of time to decide and I'd appreciate input!

Thanks all!

For the size and weight of this model, and comparing the Zenoah G38 (very good engine), with alternatives....you COULD conceivably choose a DL-50, 50cc single for this plane. You can get a G38 for 300 plus shipping, pretty much anywhere new, and the DL-50 for 370, shipped. It all depends on what you might want to put this motor in after this plane, ya know? The reason I bring this up, is because for 70 bucks or less extra, you could have an engine that would fly this plane with unlimited power, and have an engine that would go in so many other models. Not to mention that this 50cc, even with muffler and ignition battery, is at least 10oz lighter than the g38. You can always use the left stick, nothing says you MUST be at full throttle

I've seen that plane fly with a G-38. PLENTY of reserve power.
