OK, Jim at Western Hobby's has the magnets in stock. He just needs to know the diameter and depth. Dennis

Just came back from a warbird event where I saw several of the Chinese engines being used. One poor soul had two of them and fiddled around all weekend trying to get them to turn reasonable rpms. Sounded like they were down about 1k at least on a very small prop.
The ones who flew had them on WWI type planes. Very low performance. In my business the old saying about "if it sounds too good to be true it is" kept us out of trouble with cut-rate products. Just remember that you get what you pay for even from China.

The chinese engines are not in the same class as the bid dollar engines, and people should not be using them for competitive flying in the first place. They are just nice little sport flying engines, not state of the art high performance, competition engines.
I have a Great Planes Super Stearman that weighs 16 lbs, and my SV26 pulls it wonderfully, always starts right up, and runs like a dream every time. Sport flyers like myself don't need state of the art performance, just nice little dependable engines that run smoothly.

Sport flyers like myself don't need state of the art, high performance engines. My SV26 runs like a dream everytime. Comparing a $200.00 entry level chinese made engine to a DA or Brison, etc... is ridiculas. I have a total of $750.00 in my Super Stearman, and it runs as smooth and nice as any engine i've ever seen. Ya don't drag race the family minivan...

freeonthree i totally agree with you. i posted before that i hope it just hovers. well the plane weighs 2pounds more than i wished. i don't think it will hover. although the engine has a lot more breaking to do. i'm satisfied. the plane came in at 12 pounds. it's my first gas engine plane and it has a very distinct presence in the air. i will probley add smoke to it after a few more flights.

My pleasure... Im not into 3D, but I guess im lucky to be easily entertained by just sport flying. Since I quit trying to be a stunt pilot, crashing is a thing of the past. Dennis

Hi-Tec Hobbies was at the Joe Nall event and is carrying the SV engine line, they had the new 50cc and 100cc engines mounted in a Hangar 9 Extra 260's The 50cc in the 27% and the 100cc in the 35%, They said that they were doing full support of both parts and repair of the engines.

I have a SV 50cc twin. It has a Walbro WT429a carb. the carb has a black nipple and a white nipple. There is also a nipple on the rear of the case. Which one (Black or White) is the fuel inlet and what is the other one used for?.
There is a short tube connected to the case nipple and it looks like it should be connected to the white nipple. It was not connected to the white nipple when I got the engine.
Has anyone got any ideas?.

Regards

The setup in your second photo is correct. The white nipple is supposed to be hooked to the nipple on the case, that is the pressure pulse line that drives the internal fuel pump.

The black nipple is the fuel inlet, connect to your fuel tank.

It's funny; in all the years I've been in this hobby it was just recently that this business about not breaking in a gas engine on the bench appeared. I've been running in gas and glow engines on the bench for years with nary a problem. One reason is that I like to become familiar with an engine before I put it in a model. Suddenly some "experts" surface, saying I've been doing it wrong. [X(] Guess I've just been lucky all these years.

BTW, my SV-26 runs fine on the bench.

It's a personal preference I guess, but I just install the engines, and start em, tune em, and fly em. I don't break gas engines in, and I also run em on 100:1 full synthetic from the first start now. I don't break in my chain saws or weedeaters either. Only engines with pinch type cylinders need to be broke in a little before pounding on them. Thats my opinion, and I don't think there is really a correct way, it's just whatever works for you. Life would be boreing if we all did everything the same way.

Anyone tried using a Bowman ring on the sv26? and is it available? Been trying to get in touch with Frank with little success. I see the SV26 has 2 rings as with other chinese engines, is there a reason why i wonder. Is the supplied good and is it an RCexl ignition system?
I tried using an SPE26 inverted pitts muffler but as the reach is too short, I might have to shave off some fins to get it to fit. The supplied steel muffler feels too crude and heavy.

It did run good, but I have it tore down right now. I thought it had a bad bearing, but now I see the bearing fits loosely into the case. I have a new rear case, and the bearing will have to be tapped into that one. The bearing feels fine... I sure wish I had a set of gaskets for this thing. Guess i'll have to make em again.
