Okay here goes question #2 tonight...............
I have a BCMA/SPE 40cc CDI equipped engine................what are my kill switch options without the brain damage of figuring it out on my own????????????????
I've already immagined a servo controlled(fully equipped with Nyrod linkage)springloaded switch with a manual over ride.
I know someone out there knows the easy way or even what I need to begin with. I'm new to gassers and I would rather get it over with than run "OUTLAW".
I speak fairly good "electrical engineer" so if there's a way to get this done via diodes, resistors, relays and the like......
Make NO MISTAKE I'm Not an electrical engineer, I just understand most of it.............

A servo activated slide switch is a reliable and cheap way of doing it. I use the RCATS 100 optical unit which is easy to install.
Suggestion, buy the wife some perfume and then but yourself a switch.

Of the available electronic kill switches, I like the RCAT systems the best..... aside from that, use a spare servo to choke the engine. Not only would you then not have to choke the engine through your cowl with other methods (you could use your transmitter), you can also choke the engine with the same switch on your transmitter for a kill switch.

I appreciate the info guys.. Thanks for all the tips. And no she's really not that bad I just keep saying "All I need is this one last thing." And then something else pops up either forgot or didn't know about...

choking the engine to shut it off works.... but is hard on the engine and leaves lots of fuel behind.....
I use the EDG optical cutoff....
if spent the money to step up to a GS gas plane.... do it right or fly a smaller glow.

Thanks for the offer Bob.. But I've already got that one figured out. However I was concerned about the possibility of RFI, since the servo and switch are in such close proximity. Everything I've read says to keep radio/ignition seperated by atleast 12 inches. Is this not the case?
Ohh and EXETER............I can stick my head in the prop too.....that should work RIGHT?
Lol....I dont have a choke nor do I plan on giving up my glow side either, even with a limited budget.

But the more valuable insight that many of us would encourage you about is this --- Don't Operate a Gasser without the ability to remotely kill the ignition. Period. It's just a very real safety concern because "stuff happens", and a 40-cc gasser is hauling around some stuff that we wouldn't want out-of-control.
I'm sure you know all this; just thought I'd reinforce the shutdown from a purely "safety" perspective. Good luck on your solution; there are lots of ways to skin that cat. I knew someone who actually had a "trip wire" that he pulled with a servo that disconnected the ignition battery. Let us know how you choose to skin your cat!

Thanks for the input Bob, And No I have ZERO intentions of flying without one.
I am only looking at the different possibilities and options not trying to Omit them.
