Default Kill switch installation

Hi dear friends!

I have a GP Yak-54 and a Fuji-50EIS engine. I want to install a GP Kill engine switch. I read in the Tower hobbies explanation about the product, that it won't work with the EIS series. Maybe we should try giving here some ideas. Actually I don't want to install an additional servo, maybe we can do it, we lower the trim or something it to enable the Kill switch button. Actually I am not familiar with this particular element from the plane, so I'd be happy to hear your proposals and opinions!

Best regards! Waiting for your answer!

The switch needs to be depressed to be on. Until recently I used them for all my gas engines. I Just used another servo. To not have to use another servo I think a large round servo horn could be cut to opperate the switch using just the throttle servo.

You wire it into a 6" extension. Just cut the red wire on the extension and solder the switches two leads to those. Then run that extension between your EI and power source. When the switch is off nothing should get through the red wire so the EI has no power to operate. Personally I use RCats Solid state switches. They're $25.00 and don't require a servo to operate.

Thanks a lot Al!

The only thing I didn't understand is how I am going to make the ignition OFF during flight or let's say before landing?

Best regards!

Hi!

This is very useful!

Thanks a lot!

I'll try to do this on my plane however my servo is side mounted.

Very good diagram. Hm I thought the left photo show a working ignition. Actually now I understand the whole situation. So Actually when the sensor is pressed, then there is spark and the ignition is working, right?!

Best regards!

Yep. Depressed the circuit is closed, power flows. Or in the case of killing a mag ignition, depressed is kill by completing the loop to ground.

Pilot013,
A lot of these micro switches have selectable NO/NC (normally open or normally closed) depending on how you wire them.
That means, that they can be either on or off when you depress them, depending on your requirement.
