Hello all hope you all are well. This is my first gas engine mounting and I wanted you guys in the knoe to take a look. It is a DA 50 in a TF P 51 Mustang GS. It is mounted by creating a second fire wall to give me the distance I need to the Backplate. 1/4 inch AC Ply with 3/4 inch spacer between the 2 firewalls and DA 3 inch standoffs. I still need to seal the new FW to protect it and I still need to enlarge the hole in the new FW for sufficient breathing for the Carb. Does it look Ok ? Opinions welcomed. Thanks for all the Ideas you guys provide as well as help. Hope I will be able to do the same someday. Kevin.[img][/img]

Thanks Pat, I did kind of feel like it may not be enough and I will be enlarging the hole so not to restrict the carb. I have read alot of your helpful post and they are needed and greatly appreciated. The P 51 is an ARC and I have FG and Painted it. I am now ready to begin with the assembly, I HOPE. Thanks again fellas and always feel free to throw any advice my way when you see it needed. I will always welcome it. Take care, Kevin.

Here is a pic or two this is also my first try at FG and painting. Hopefully next will be a full build. I always do better when I progress in stages. Kevin.

You may want to check the nuts, bolts, and wood at the fuselage firewall and secondary mount once in awhile to assure fastener security and that wood compression is not taking place. That's the only places I would have any concerns. Thinking a little more, since you have mount offsets I'd use large fender washers against the wood anywhere I could. That shouldn't change the engine to cowl distance though.
