Donnie on the Torch I got 2400 plus the ignition. It comes in at 4 ounces more that the 3W 80XI for the bare motor. I guess more cc's cost more somewhere

Still it is 8 ounces less than a DA-100 and more like 3/4 of a pound with stock exhaust (one versus 2 exhaust) and around 450 bucks cheaper than a new DA-100 (not counting mufflers). Heavier than the DA-85 yes but still 100 and change less than.

Cant wait to get a gallon or two through it and see what it does.

2400g including the ign.
Let's see that's 28g to an oz, so it's 86oz divided by 16, (thanks to the British navies thieving pursers), so it's going to weigh 5.3 pounds, in a system I understand. Now you're in 3W territory, it better make real power!

PS I own a 366GT, I think it will!

the engine has great pull, smooth idle, and has to be the easiest engine to start; choke on ,3 flips, choke off,ign on ,running like a champ

Don't Zenoah and Fuji both have 80cc twins?

Horizon shows the GT80 twin for $799 and Tower shows the BT-86 twin at $699.

All true... but the DA 85 on a stock muffler will turn a Vess 26A at 6500+ all day long.. I haven't played with one myself.. but I see numbers 6500-6700 stock. I know my 3W-85 did 6400-6500 with that prop and a pitts muffler. On a pipe it was suppose to do a 28x10 at 6200... but I didn't go down that road.

As far as the question about the Brillelli weight... it will also be similar to a 3W 85.. maybe slightly lighter. Scott is still playing with it and doesn't have any official running numbers or weights to share yet. The first case just went back to the machine shop for some mods.

there is a difference between just hanging something on the firewall and having something on the firewall that actually produces Power

.........Zenoah/Fugi.....
I also have a DA 85 on a KS 95 rear exhaust,1 gal of gass through it turning a Vess 26a 6900.I cant make a true comparison becouse of the fact the Torch does not even have 30 ounces through it yet,and the difference of the exhaust. Also the DA 85 is on a 33% SD Yak at 22lbs ,and the Torch is in a 35% Extra at 25 lbs,not yet broken in.I will also try to do a comparison between the two different exhaust's.

I always thought an ounce was 28.4 grams......but who is counting?

As I said in my previous post, the weight is slightly more than the 3W80 and if I were a guessing man I might guess it would perform like it had 10cc's more. Kinda like the difference between a B-50 and a B-60 or similar.

What strikes me about this is that the idle is far better than the first 3W-80XI combo I did...Far better.

Hello Donnie,
Maybe this video can help you.
Hercules is on more happy Torch's costumer in Brazil.
His plane is made in Brazil and powered by Torch 90cc.
Enjoy it.

What?? A video of takeoff and no landing?? I just ain't right. I don't feel complete I really like your little airport there though Marcelo.[8D]

I am getting an airframe ready for that Torch 60 and will fly the 90 this weekend. I want to have some Torch planes for you to fly at the FX3D Huck Fest so you feel at home when you come visit. That way I get to fly yours when I go on vacation to Brazil, no? I look forward to seeing you there in Jacksonville.

Richard

PS Any idea what that plane in the video weighs at takeoff?

Thanks... was a nice combo for sure... shame it went in at Huckfest! It's actually pretty much fixed up again... just needs a firewall font piece cut. When warm weather approaches it will make it out to the field again Probably have a Brillelli 80 on it this year though. I sold the 3W

Hi Richard,
I use to say that our field is the best flying field dow here. It is really good, no noise restriction, located inside an Army base, near my city.
The video wasn't recorded by me, I found it by chance yesterday as I noticed that the main topic of night was the 90cc idle. I think it is better to show it iwith a video instead trying to explan with words. Don't you feel the same.
I will all my efforts to go to Florida Huckfest, the main problem is that I am not a very good pilot. In fact I am the builder and the International relationship guy from our team.
I am still pushing Marcio to go with me but he still a litle resistent with this idea. I think he is concerned to get to many people looking for him.
Yes we'"l do our best to be there and I will let you know soon.
On your vacation we will serve you our popular drink named " Caipirinha" you will love it. Made from Cachaca shaked with sugar, ice and lemon. Just on problem after drinking it you can not fly anymore at that day. [sm=shades_smile.gif]
Take care and have good flighs.

This is the Torch 90 on a Pacific Planes 102 inch 35% Extra. I consider it the first flight since we got the carb issue cleared.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2BWEeriz1Z4

then the next flight. The plane weighs 24 3/4 pounds dry and I am guessing 26 full of fuel.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HTHFVq9zKlM

The needles are not yet optimized. I will also look for a prop/header combo down the road to make the pipe work in more power as well. (I am only getting 200 above open exhaust at this point)

At the end of the second vid I panned the camera across the flight control, they are not shaking at all at 1200 rpm. anything above that and the engine is more smooth.

Thanks for the help with the carb Donnie and with the sticks also.

Richard
