Default New to Gas - some tips please - BME 90

Assembling first plane with a BME 90 engine. I apologize in advance for my questions that might seem basic. But here goes - any help is truly appreciated.

Lets assume a know very little about gas engines (or glow for that matter). But somethings I have thought of already.
a. have a PCM receiver
b. know I need special gas tank fittings - stopper, fuel lines
c. know with that engine (carb pumps fuel) I can locate the tank near or on the CG.
d. know I need a receiver battery and ignition battery
e. bme 90 has an electronic ignition
f. plane is a 90 size Edge

Now here come the questions:

1. Ignition battery - how many mah do I need (figure about 4 flights, 20 min each)? what voltage? Type of battery? Will lipo work - do I need a voltage regulator

2. Rx battery - Can I use a Lipo here? Have seen 7.4V but assume I need between 4.8 and 6.0. What do you need to use a lipo (voltage regulator)?

3. Fuel tank - what capacity would I want for 20 minute flights? Have heard the Hayes are the lightest, but have not seen Gas compatible stoppers for them? brand suggestion too.

4. What special wiring connection do I need for ignition - ignition switch on the fuse and by radio? Suggestions for switches to use...

5. Carb - That carb (Zama) has what looks like a butterfly with a control arm for it. And another smaller arm that looks like it might be the throttle. On a car engine, the butterfly is controlled by the throttle - this one is separate. What do I hook the throttle servo to?

6. Prop size - Anyone with that engine have suggestions for prop size.

7. 2 stroke oil - what ratio of fuel to oil? what type / brand of oil

That ought to get me started - many thanks for help.

Here are answers to some of your questions, the others I will leave for those most qualified to comment.

Any standard tank will do but use a Dubro brown gas stopper and 3/32" I.D. Tygon or Hayes black seamless neoprene tubing for fuel lines. Use a felt filtered in tank clunk, available from your lawn and garden store. Gas engines don't require muffler pressure .

A 4.8v 1000 mA Nicad battery is more than adequate for ignition, and remember absolutely no metal to metal contact on the throttle push rod connections. I use a standard Tx swith as a manual cut off for the ignition mounted on the fuse, but special HD switches are available. I have found the RCATS 100 electronic switch to be very good one as a Tx controlled ign.sw.

For that amount of flying a 10 oz tank will be adequate, as gas engines as very frugal in their fuel consumption.

OIL.... do I really want to go there. This topic has been kicked around on this forum umpteen of times, so my suggestion is to use the search feature here, read and then make a decision as there is more than enough info to do so. But if you don't want to go that route, use any good quality synthetic 2 stroke oil for air cooled engines and mix as per the manufacturers recommendations, staying within a 32-50:1 mix ratio range.

You're most welcome. By the way Robert, is this your very first plane ? If that's a yes, anything else you want to know and think I might be able to help, just send me a PM.
