Default Favorite engine?

Yes I know they all have their good points but if you had to pick YOUR favorite engine, one you own or have owned, which one would it be and why?

For ease of operation and absolute reliability two are tied for the top position. The original Brison and Taurus 3.2 engines.

Right now that goes to my DA-85. The engine is strong. light, runs great, and is backed with great customer service. What more could you want.

Mine is a Brillelli 60... one of the only engines that has never let me down and customer service that is top. Mine has probably 45-50 gallons through it now (I lost count).

My favorites would have to be my Brisons i have 3 of the 3.2 and 2 of the 6.4 and they are the most reliable of all my engines (3w , Zenoah , Roto )
and they are also among the lightest.

Absolute favorite -- a lightened G62 on electronic ignition. They just never quit. Never had to have one serviced for any reason.

2nd favorite is any conversion engine 35cc--100cc with electronic ignition. Reliable, cheap, powerful. Not any heavier than your average Sachs based engines if done right.

I really only own a handful of gassers. I have 4 or 5 Zenoah G62 engines lying around. I have a 54cc Poulan, 60cc Poulan, Fox 3.2, Craftsman 36cc x 2, Stihl 75cc, Stihl 110cc single, a dozen or so Ryobi 31cc and 28cc engines and one weedie thats 21cc but I don't know what make or model it is.

I like all of them. Each has an application best fitted to it's individual performance.

You guys need to leave "great service" out of the deal. The best engines don't need any

My two ZDZ 50 NG's both run very well. No dead sticks on either one and I fly very low and slow.

My brand new Brillelli 60 has not been started yet but from what I hear it will be my favorite.

PS: Pat service is an issue. Neither of my ZDZ's needed service until I totally drove one into the dirt doing a double waterfall way too low. I called to get a quote and decided not to fix it ($300 for a new cylinder head and carburator and only assuming 1 hour of labor, fagetaboutit !!!!).

Wow!!!

If you screw up a Taurus it costs a little over $200 for a new cylinder, piston, and ring assembly. You can do the thing yourself in less than an hour. I have to admit, until recently I've not had an engine that required customer service unless I did something to cause it. In the customer service area I don't think any of the established manufacturers/distributors can be faulted. The new crop hitting the shores are another story.

The recent engine is not one of the majors and it arrives a little blemished.

Hey when do we get a review of that slightly ugly, amazingly long rear induction, no where near a powerhouse but nicely priced engine you been playing with?

I just started writing it in a Word format so I can transfer it over in one piece. I didn't want to write a little at a time and get attacked piece meal. Would you please quit spilling the rest of the beans? If you don't I will stop doing the taxi out at your field and blast the backs of th trucks with dust[sm=47_47.gif]

Wondered what it would take to get you to quit doing that. Figured I'd have to call up your favorite crop duster pilot to splain some rules of etiquite.

My favorite engine is my Brillelli 36GT. It has never failed me or given me a dead stick. It is very lite and has the power of a 40cc gasser. I have 8 other engines and they run good also, but not as reliable as the Brillelli 36GT.

Another Brison 3.2 mechanical advance vote.... it has been flawless for seven years.
It still scares the DA-50 owners when I stab the throttle and it instantly responds.

I've had the same experiences with both my mechanical and auto advance Brisons. I rather prefer the mechanicals over the autos.

My favorite is also the Taurus TS-52. Smooth, powerful, ultra-reliable.

Second favorite is the DA-100. Easy to use, good power, and smooth. The DA wins on 'coolness factor' too.

My DA-100 plane was shot down a few years ago by a guy on the same frequency, and the plane landed wings level and slightly nose down. Sent the DA back for service, they replaced the crankshaft and returned it about a week later. Total bill for service? Free? Hardly! It cost $385 including shipping. You break it, you buy it.

p.s. the guy who shot down the plane, felt horrible about it at the time, and promised to pay for it, disappeared and won't return phone calls. Cost us about $2k to replace the airframe and fix the engine. That was 2 years ago.
