3w 140 engine problem

Default 3w 140 engine problem

Hi Guys hope someone can help here, i have a 3w140 that is difficult to start, the carb is clean and fine but it will only run on one cylinder at a time sometimes both together, then hops from one to the other the batt pack for the ign is 4.8v 1700ma, i have a feeling its the ignition pack has any of you out there had simalar problems with twins,

Hi,

I would suggest that it is the ignition. Usually, it is the spark plug caps which go bad and need replacing.

thanks for that mate , looks like i need a replacement,The unit is stamped 1996, so 12 yrs old (but maybe not 12 yrs use)

Hi,

Try replacing the spark plug caps before you give up on the ignition. They are usually the component which goes bad.
