I was having a discussion with a flying buddy about oils. I said I used Pennzoil 2-cycle air-cooled oil and he said that I should use Pennzoil outdoor 2-cycle air-cooled oil. The one I use is in the 3.2 oz. bottle and the other is in the 8 oz. bottle. He says the one I use will destroy my engines. Mine are still in the break-in period at 32:1. Which is the proper oil to use? I need to get some more oil as I just mixed 1.5 gal. more. If I'm using the wrong stuff, I'll use it my weed eater. I have already run 1.5 gal. between my 2 50cc engines.

I read the whole thing, I was a little confused. Are the two oils the same? Is it just that the 8 oz. bottle has the updated label as compared to the 3.2 oz. bottle or are they different. I went to Pennzoil's web site and still didn't find a definite answer.

You should use the Pennzoil aircooled, not the outdoor.

Also, I really doubt either one if mixed properly would destroy your engine. I would ask your flying buddy where he got the idea that either of the Pennzoil products would destroy any two stroke engine.

I have used the aircooled for years with no problems.

Air-cooled = air-cooled. The bottles have different labels, that is all. The other formula is "multi-purpose" and is not for air-cooled engines. If the label says air-cooled you are good to go. The newer bottles say "Outdoor" on them, and it is a marketing thing. The basic oil is the same as it used to be when they used the plain yellow bottle.

Yeah I just checked my bottle and it says Outdoor aircooled with blue labeling. From what I have read this is the one to use. The other is the multi-purpose and has brown labeling.

Yes, it is the one labeled "Multi-Purpose" that is different. Both share the Outdoor label now but the labels are different colors as mentioned above and the Blue Label "Aircooled" is the one you want.

I have a DA-50 and broke mine in on stihl oil, i put five gallons or about, then i went to Klotzs at 17 dollars a quart it has to be good and i also use chevron gas with tecron in it and the engine runs so much cleaner
