G38 engine

ziroli mid size p47.- probably most any mid size warbird 70-80 inch that had a radial engine. planes like cubs etc that are bigger maybe up to 18-20 lb would be good too. of course that dpends on your definition of good, and how much you want to spend. to me the g38 would be good where the plane would need nose weight (compared to a glow engine) and good, reliable power.
probably not good for serious aerobatics.

Yes I consider the big Sig Spacewalker one of the better bargains available in giant kits. This is a contest scale version of a personal light plane which isnt particularly aerobatic and neither is the model. If 3D and unlimited anything is your desire this is not the model for you,IMO.No amount of overpowering is going to overcome the natural flight tendencies of the huge constant chord ironing board of a wing.
Mine is powered by the electronic ignition version of the Quadra 400,which is 38cc displacement, and its a perfect match, which allows all normal aerobatics and then some, but also allows beautiful slow flight and landings to write home about........

G38 - well just about any plane that can handle a 4.4 lb engine. If it's a high wing loaded aerobat then keep it under 14 lb all up. If it's a low wing loaded floater like a cub then keep it under 20 lb ready to go. There are a huge variety of 1/4 scale planes that fit those specifications

captinjohn,
Ryan's Rebel was featured in the December 2002 issue of RCM. The article included the materials list. You can buy the plans from them. Gear can be purchased from TNT Landing Gear. Let me know if you need any additional info.

Doesn't the new G-26 put out more power than the G-38 weight less and come in a smaller package. I have been thinking about a G-38 but get turned off when comparing it to the other Zenoah engines, it weights almost as much as the G-45 without the power. I am just getting started getting into gas.

I got one and I think I may put a ignition by RCIGN1 and drill holes in the fins and anything else I can do to make it light. That steel prop hub and shaft got to go also. Captinjohn
