OK, 18x6 sounded a little ambitious.

I just wonder if I'm "over-revving" with the 15x7 @ 9400 rpm.

Horizon Hobby specs list the benchmark as 15x6 @ 9400 rpm, which I'm getting with the 15x7, and almost 9900 with the 15x6. They list the "prop size range" as 14x6 - 16x6, and then list the HP as "1.7 hp at 8500 rpm."

These numbers are all over the place - hence my confusion.[&o]

I know for a fact it produces over 14 lbs of thrust and doesn't overheat with the 15x7, so I guess I'll be happy with that for a while. The performance of this engine certainly exceeds my expectations, except for the ignition power consumption.

I purchased a conversion kit from CH. Much better now.

What muffler are you using?

I have a CH ignition available. Can I just plug-n-play or does something else need to be done to the engine to make it work, such as re-position the Hall sensor?

I'm still using the stock muffler. I got the Snuffler and connected it to the stock muffler with some large silicone tubing, but it really messed up the tuning and I didn't want to fool around with it in the cold weather. Still got the 4-blade prop and will do more experimentation with that when the weather warms up.

I used the new senser that came with the kit. It bolts right on. I timed mine by test runing it and adjusting the timing as retarded as possible without losing any rpm. The carb should be adjusted properly first.

rcshowcase is starting to sale a SV17 motor that is 17cc. Should be another good alternative for the STM. I've got on in the box that I'm planning to put on gas and thought that might be a good motor. The worse thing about the G20 is the ignition.

If it is a halfway decent 17cc it will fly this plane, no doubt!

Too bad we have to spend an additional $100 to get a decent ignition!

You can get an Rcexl single gas ignition from prcmodels on sale for $50 right now. It shows $65 but when you put it in your cart you see the sale price.

Anybody tried towing a glider with a Sr. ARF? I'd really like to become good at this but need more info on cable set-up and location. I presume near center of gravity? on bottom or top of fusealage? Thanks.
