Hi Folks, I just acquired this engine mounted in a 1/4 scale bi-plane and there are Quadra decals on the airplane. Could you folks please confirm what the engine is and how to determine the size? The serial number is 366249. Thanks in advance, Richard

Yup,my mufflers on the right side when looking at the front.Theres a way to turn the cylinder and get more rpm,ill have to call Ralph,(rcign). He told me once but i forgot.Thats the reason there are monting lugs for the coil on both sides of the cylinder for the coil. And also you could reverse the coil and put it on the back and you would have a Cw rotating engine i think but ralph said you could turn the flywheel from either end of the engine.

If there are mounting lugs for the coil on both sides of the cylinder, its a Quadra 52.My seriel# is 409643 on mine. But im sure its a 52cc.

Nope,im not sure either. But you have the proof in your hand. All i know is i called Ralph and asked him what i had.I told him i measured the bore and stroke and came up with 55ccs.He said it was definatly a Q52 if it had mounting lugs on both sides of the engine for the coil.He said it could be run from either end.So as sodbuster said in his post it could be either.Well, i just learned something else new right now.

The box is all I have to go by and trust...Note the serial # on the box and the serial # on top of the engine...They match...Click on the blue box in the lower right corner of the pic to enlarge the pic...You can read the #'s easier with the pics enlarged...
I think that there is no exact science when it comes to these Quadra engines as I've heard so many different ways to identify them...Again, the box and the matching serial #'s are all I have to go by...
