G-23 Bearing?
My older (first generation) G-23 just went sour. It ran fine and spins nicely by hand, but I can't use my electric starter because of resistance when the starter is pushed in on it. It feels kinda gritty when you push in and rotate by hand, suspect a bearing or two.
Before I go rummaging around in there is there anything I should know, like which bearing to suspect? Can I pull these bearings without cracking the case-(ugh!)
TIA, Tex.

G23 engines have 3 bearings..the front 2 have a snap ring in the case between the bearings, to keep the crank from coming forward..The rear bearing fits against a shoulder in the rear case...There's no way for the crank to hit the case unless the shoulder in the rear is cracked from a crash...You can take the cylinder off and see where the problem is...
