RE: SYSSA 30CC GAS MADE IN USA
Nice looking flying machine Jim, well thought out install on the powerplant and cowling. I bet she flys great.
I got my syssa installed and started for the first time Sunday afternoon. Wow that engine sounds good! I have a few small items to work through this week and should have in in the air this weekend, especially if this wonderful weather persists here in no man's land.

Thanks, Mike.
Wow, I thought you were kidding with the no-man's land thing. I looked up Selman on the map, looks like a population of maybe a couple dozen? I guess you have some nice flat fields, though.
You'll love your new Syssa. Once it has the gas to it, flip and start. Might have to use the choke when it's cold. Sweet engine. Did you get the exhaust inserts? It mellows out the sound nicely. I had the opportunity to fly with a friend who had his inserts out.

RE: SYSSA 30CC GAS MADE IN USA
Yeah, I was telling the truth, this is wide open country out here. Very true about all the flat fields. I have a full scale strip at my house, it's 3/4 of a mile long and right at 80 feet wide, so theres lots of room, and a LOT of mowing too.
I did get the inserts, and have not tried them yet. This is my first step into gas engines and I have only started it a few times last weekend. Sure sounds nice turning the 18 X 6 Xoar.

ahhh, you had posted just after I did before. I figure on giving mine a couple weeks, maybe a few.
Trust me, a Syssa engine is worth waiting for, and I waited a LONG time the first time around. This is a piece of cake.

RE: SYSSA 30CC GAS MADE IN USA
I have no knowledge of the goings on in Todd's facility, other than what he told me. He told me the estimated time was a few weeks, which I take to mean anywhere between 2 and 5. When I ordered it I was bolting my first one into its second home, a new Giant Super Sportster, so I was playing it smart and getting a head start on it. When I ordered my first one, I was like you, I had a plane waiting and hoped it would come in a week. Back then he was still working on startup pains and speedbumps, it took months. I have to admit, as much as I hated the wait, it was worth it.
Although I was in the middle of another project this time, I have a brand New Super Stearman I ordered at the same time. It's waiting for the Syssa. I could have had a CRRC 26CC sent to me immediately, and that's a fine running engine. But I didn't want a CRRC 26CC, I wanted a Syssa, and I knew that meant it wasn't sitting there like a Micky-D's burger under a heatlamp, waiting to be scooped up and sold. But it's worth the wait. Don't get me wrong, I understand you're anxious to get yours, but try to be patient. I guarantee you that Todd will be sending you the very best engine you can find anywhere, and he doesn't send them out until he's positive of every aspect of it. That's why he has that great reputation for awesome engines. And for sometimes being just a weeeee bit behind schedule getting them out...LOL
Once you have yours installed and running you'll know what I'm talking about. Actually, once you have it in your hot little hands you'll know. The workmanship is so beautiful on these that you almost hate to bolt them up and run them. They're real PURTY............. [8D]

It sure is. Like John, I'm still waiting for my new SAP 180. Just thought he'd like to see some photos I took of mine.
Once it arrives, I'm probably going to swap them out and send this one in to Todd for the upgrades, most notably the pinned prop washer setup. Though I must say, I've never experienced even a bit of prop slippage to date.

Eliminate that by installing a circle of 80 grit sand paper to the prop. Super glue it on. It gives better bite

Fisrt run of the day, choke closed, full throttle, IBEC off, rocking prop 25 times TDC to BDC. Stop rocking, open choke, still full throttle, flip prop twice. Throttle to idle, IBEC on, one flip start.
After intial run of the day, IBEC off, full trhottle, flip prop twice, close to idle, IBEC on, one flip start.
TWEEEET!!!

Man, that is one beautiful field. I miss Maine when I look at your field. Nothing like it here, and there are wall to wall people at the few that are close to being like it.
The engine performed great.

The field I fly at here has the water not just nearby. It runs right up to our airstrip. Our flying airspace is over the water at all times. [X(]
When you don't have a couple dozen people driving you crazy, it's easy to keep your plane on track. Unfortunately, none of the fields here come without an overabundance of people. Those with less people usually have an overabundance of hazards and problems.[]
The field in that photo is pretty much my version of heaven.

RE: SYSSA 30CC GAS MADE IN USA
Yes, there are trees and water, but it is so big that if you are over either of them, it is hard to see a 30%. It is about 5000 feet by almost 1000 feet and you fly from the little clump of trees in the middle-left. It has the AMA benches, and a solar powered battery charging station. On the other side, next to the water, there is a field for helo's and 3D stuff. One club rule that is unique is they prefer that you don't fly alone, because it is an emergency ditch field for Concord and Manchester (MHT). Imagine you are flying and a SWA 737 is doing a "Sully" towards you! You look up and think, "wow, what a really realistic looking scale 737"!

Yeah, right before I start dialing 911 on my cell phone!!
Has anybody ever had to use it? At nearly 5000 feet and dirt, it would work well, as long as the ground isn't soaked and soft.
