I thought 2.4 gig (high frequency) was impervious to ignition interference. Can someone explain how this is happening, not that it is happening?

The interference can also get into the servo amplifiers and this has nothing to do with 2.4 Ghz

Exactly. Many people are under the impression that going to 2.4Ghz totally eliminates the possibility of interference. You can still have components such as ignition modules and ESC's interfering with servos etc. You still need to be careful about component and wiring placement.

2.4 is not impervious to interference. More resistant, but definately not impervious. I've seen 2.4 completely wiped out by interference in some situations. One still needs to set up a plane correctly, using good components and methodology, and run ground checks if they want a safe aircraft.

2.4 is definitely good but NOT perfect. Like others are saying, you still need to have a good setup with good components and FWIW I, purely by accident, placed the antena of my DX7 within about 8 to 10 ins of a major brand servo which just happened to be installed on my ailerons. Said servo went nuts. Tried it on the other side same song second verse. Tried it on my HiTec HS7955-TG's, nada (not sure why the HiTec's didn't pick it up). I have learned a lot about the need to keep RF emiting components away from radio equipment because of this little incident.

Update. Tried a number of motor factors here in Cyprus & was unable to get the A plug. I soldered a wire to the plug lead metal braid & the other end to a washer & bolted that to the engine. I also left the original cable ties securing the plug lead to one of the engine standoffs. The interference problem has disappeared.
Thanks to everyone for their input.
I have a giant scale CMPro Zero kit & a DL50 engine that I was going to sell because of the problems I was having. Now, I think it will be my next project.

Regards
Jim

Clean component layout/installation and good plug grounding are a no brainers. I don't know why I didn't think of a servo as possibly picking up stray RF, but I didn't. Not knowing the circuitry of the 2.4 gig receivers, I guess it's also possible the receiver could pick up some stray RF behind the front end. Thanks for the logical answers and possibly regenerating this old brain.

I am wondering if he was supplied with an ignition for a CM6 plug and the engine uses the larger plugs, hence why it won't go down far enough. Do you have a camera to take a photo of it for us? If so all he needs is an 14mm to 10mm insert from CH and a CM6 plug.
