Default DLE55 needle setup

Dears,

I bought a new DLE55 engine on my 27% extra 330, the engine just finished its first gallon should I start adjusting the needles as I haven't touched the needles yet it's still with its factory settings, I also hear a strange sound in the engine as if it tends to stop while runing I hear it on idle and even if I increased the throttle to a bit below half I still hear it, is it because I need to adjust the needles? cause one of the pilots at our field told me so.

I use 92 octane gas and the oil mixture is 30:1.

You should be a little over 1.5 turns on the high and around 1.25 on the low. Tune it, but they should be in that ball park. I have the 50 and 55 and both are right around there. Each engine should be custom tuned. If you're not sure what to listen for, get a gas engine guru to help you at the field.

You should have adjusted the carb needles during the first tank of gas, so it's long over due. Many things happen when one fails to correctly tune an engine for location and use and what you note is one of them. So tune the engine.

I adjusted the needles but I still hear the same sound as if the engine tends to stop, I adjusted the high needle on 7500rpm and the low on 1900rpm, I need to know why this sound is still there, could it be the plug? should I change it?

Can you tell me exactly how you're flying the plane when this sound happens? Is it during a high G pull up from a down line for example? Be very specific how and when the sound happens. I have had an engine want to die when I was pointed straight down and pulled up hard. Although neither of my DL-50 or DEL-55 do this.

This sound happens in straight level flight, it even happens on ground, I still didn't try any 3d, by the way when do you think I can start doing some 3d?

Are you talking about it missing now and then? That's usually rich. But could also be something related to the ignition. The plug should be replaced with an NGK CM-6 if you didn't do that already. I think I'll make that part of my signature I've told people that so many times.

I bought a new spark plug (Champion Y82) cause I couldn't find the NGK anywhere near me, the guy at our hobby shop said that they are ok, anyone tried them before? are they the same as the NGKs?

I'll try out the engine on Friday and I'll shoot a video to post for you guys. wish me luck
