Default RCGF 20cc

Hi,
i am consider to put RCGF 20cc on my 90 size pattern ( around 9lbs )

according to the engine spec it will turn 16x6 at 9200. so i guess it supposed to turn 14x10 APC on the same rpm, if that the case then it's enough power for my needs
do you think it's realistic that the engine will perform such ? the engine total weight is 1000 gr ( engine + muffler + CDI ) so i will be able to balance the extra weight ( compering to YS-110FZ it's about 250 gr ) by moving the rudder servo to the tail and also i will try to put the ignition as far as possible from the engine to help balancing

You might consider the 28 cc instead. It is likely you will need to place the battery pack further to the rear of the aircraft to get the desired balance point. Good luck and have fun!

i thought about the MLD-28 but i am afraid that it will tear my airplane apart.... i guess the 28 produce higher vibration level then the 20...

Thanks,

Check out the JC 28cc carried by RCAER.com nice engine. There are some video's on YouTube showing the 20cc Aerovate running, and the 28cc running.

The 20 and 28cc Rc Aero engines are very nice running units and weight the same but for your application the 28 would be the smart choice. If mounted properly and used with a balanced prop you should have no out of the ordinary vibration problems. Just ensure that your 90 size model will provide sufficient ground clearance from the landing gear to accomodate the 16-18" props either engine will require.

I have the RCGF 20cc on a P-36 scale airplane which weights 11.2 lbs. It turns a 15-7 three bladed prop 8,200 rpm and the plane has way more verticle than is needed.

I would suggest you bench run a tank or two through the engine to familiarize yourself with it while limiting the first couple of engine runs to10 mins. or less while keeping the rpms between a high idle and 3/4 full throttle, then complete the breaking in process by flying the model, just resist doing any extended full power verticals for the first gallon or so.
