Default G-38 Ignition

I have a G-38 with a stock ignition module and flywheel. It always starts and is reliable but the other day it would not start so I packed up and headed for the house. When I got it on the bench I noticed that the spark plug wire was almost completely out of the module and with a little tug came completely out.[:@]
After a few choice words and a few cold ones I inserted the wire back in to the module and hooked it up to see if I had a spark, and I did.
Now, I tried to put some thick CA around the plug wire to hold it in but it's not working. Any ideas how I can fix this without putting $140.00 bucks in it and changing it over to electronic ignition and then re-balancing the whole plane?

Give Ralph a call, or PM 'Antique' here on RCU. He can send you a new coil if you need one, probably for very little, if not just the cost of shipping it to you. If yours can be repaired, he'll tell you exactly how to do it.

Are you sure he won't mind me calling out of the blue?

PM him on here if you'd rather. Ralph is a great guy, and a wealth of knowledge.

If your G38 mag coil is like mine...just un-screw the sparkplug coil wire out buy turning it counter-cloclwise. Install a new wire by threading it in place on the small screw you see in bottom of hole where the sparkplug wire goes in to the coil. Use some silicone rubber to seal it in place. Capt,n

I have a good coil and plug wire from a G-38 that I will sell for $50 if you want it. I am converting to electronic ignition and will not need it. Please PM or email me if interested.

Ralph suggested I put a little JB Weld around where the wire inserts into the module to hold it in place. Did that and will see if that holds it. Thanks Ralph [sm=thumbup.gif]
