You might be going the wrong way..It could be loading up and needs to be leaned out...Try going the other way with your low speed needle..

Thank you for the help...this is a very unusual problem...Tried today..Started the engine..OK...it even idle for a while...got ready to fly...started the engine..did not want to IDLE..
It would come down to an idle...for about 10 seconds then die...tried leaning out..did not help..got it to idle a little while advanced the throttle..it quits (normal indication of lean)
Played with it a while..just could not get it to reliable idle...Sending it in for warranty repair..

Try taking the carb apart first. Others have found small metal particles inside from the factory in the fuel inlet and around the float valve.

Whose Aeromaster, have a link? The DLE20 is very light and powerful for a gas engine it's size, it's the same size and power as a 1.20 glow powered engine. It seems like an awful lot of engine for a .60 sized anything.

Hi Jody,

Will the RCExl CDI model A-01 work with the DLE20 ? I think this replacement CDi is for the DLE50.

Would this engine be the same power as a 1.20 glow?

You're welcome!

Besides the JBA-15g there's also the NGH GT 17 Gas Engine,
which is essentially the same identical engine, only improved.

NGH GAS ENGINES...........

VVRC is supposed to also be carrying them, but nothing on their web site as yet.

I have a special place in my heart for 60 sized planes, they seem to fly 10 times better than 40 sized but are still easy to transport and manage at small fields. Its kind of cool that we now have a gasser that works down to this size.

If you ask me its kind of hard to compare 4 stokes to 2 strokes, the seem to have completely different power bands.

Yes, it will work but you will need to reset the timing to 28* BTDC.

Basically the same, but Jeffk464 has a point. 2 stroke glows are more rpm orientated, and 4 stroke glows are more torque orientated.
Forget what you know about 2 stroke glows when you move up to the DLE20cc gas, and think of it more in regards to high torque.
Yes, rpm counts, but only up to the peak of torque, after that it's wasted energy.

The .90 - 1.20 equals 15cc - 20cc, more so over 2 stroke glow -vs- whatever.

Various post in this thread state the DLE20cc gas is equal to a 1.20 glow.
But those of us actually running them would say it's more like a 1.20+ on steroids!!!

Hi,

I want to set up a Phoenix Extra 330s 60-91 size.

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXMUY2&P=ML

A few notes on my dilemma

a) I have been contemplating whether to make it gas or nitro for a long time. Now, I have a 120ax which was originally intended for another airplane (H9 Funtana 125) but after I saw this Extra at my LHS available as scratch&dent (its an old piece), I couldnt resist.
b) I want to move away from nitro due to the fuel costs and have never used a gas engine before. Thus this will be my first gasser.
c) Thing is, the DLE weighs 825gms which is similar to the 120 but people were suggesting to install a 95ax on this airplane which is 745gms for the lower wing loading for 3d.
d) I will probably use the same or another DLE20 on the Funtana 125 and I will be getting a DLE30 for an AW Yak 120 QB which is some time away
e) The monsoon will start in mid June and then there wont be any flying till september-october

It is now finally time to decide what to do as I have already put together my Extra. I need to place the order on Sunday. So

1) Should I go with the Extra and DLE20 or should I get a 95ax for now and a DLE30 later, thus completely skipping the DLE 20?
2) If I am to get the DLE 20, what issues should I be aware of? For example- spark plug issue I read, anything else?
3) Am thinking of using seperate LiFe battery packs for igniton and RX. LiFes are 6.6v nominal. Will the ignition system accept them?
4) The manual asks for seperate choke and throttle servos. Do I need seperate servos and if so are mini sizes ones (such as 225mg) ok?
5) The manual also asks for 2-piece Dubro anti-vibe beam mounts. I have a cople of these for the 50-75 2c and 75-90 4c engines. Not only are these undersized but also heavy, meaning the wing loading in this already heavy model will be still greater. I was planning to use the GP adjustable 90-120 mount. The manual clearly says not to use this type of mount but I saw a couple of pictures where people have used it anyway. Is the Dubro mount really required?
6) What other accessories do I need- i.e. kill switch, electronic tach etc and where do I get them. I will be ordreing the DLE from Singapore hobbies?

Please advice

Ameyam

I go for the DLE20 fuel is cheaper ,you can get your kill switch and tach here http://www.sdshobby.net/opto-gas-eng...tch-p-649.html
